Steeles Avenue Milton construction:
Milton Transit detours, December 11 to 15

Region of Halton contractors continue the project to widen and rebuild

  • Steeles Avenues West and East (Regional Road 8) between 400 metres west of Industrial Drive and Martin Street (Regional Road 25).

During the project, the region expands the street from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane urban highway.

From Monday, December 11 until Sunday, December 17, the Region and the Town of Milton are completely closing the road to all traffic.

Milton Transit is detouring buses operating along these routes, while the road is closed:

  • 1A Industrial clockwise; and
  • 1B Industrial counterclockwise.

Construction on Steeles Avenues West and East has affected Milton Transit service since Monday, April 3.

Although the roadway reopens to traffic December 18, construction continues until further notice. Milton Transit passengers should continue to expect delays.

1A Industrial clockwise

From Monday, December 11 until Friday, December 17, buses operate along their regular route to Steeles Avenue East and Martin Street, then detour:

northward along Martin Street to Market Drive,
resuming their regular route northward along Martin.

Buses skip their regular stops

  • on Steeles Avenue East at Chris Hadfield Way,
  • on Steeles Avenue West across from Bronte Street North,
  • on Industrial Drive north of Steeles Avenue West and at Market Drive,
  • on Market Drive east of Industrial Drive [2 stops] and at Martin Street.
1B Industrial counterclockwise

From Monday, December 11 until Friday, December 17, buses operate along their regular route to Martin Street and Market Drive, then detour:

southward along Martin to Steeles Avenue East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Steeles East.

Buses skip their regular stops

  • on Market Drive west of Martin Street [3 stops] and at Industrial Drive,
  • on Industrial Drive across from Market Drive and at Steeles Avenue West and
  • on Steeles Avenue East east of Bronte Street North and at Martin Street.
