TTC Line 1 subway extension to Vaughan opens,
YRT revises routes and services, December 17

TYSSE-Open-Page-Banner.jpg

Sunday, December 17, the TTC opens its extension to the Line 1 Yonge - University subway northwestward into York Region.

This first TTC rapid transit line to extend beyond the City of Toronto limits includes two stations in Vaughan — Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station and Highway 407 Station. Pioneer Village Station straddles the boundary between the two cities, at Steeles Avenue.

York Region Transit is extensively revising its bus-route network so that commuters can take advantage of the new subway service. YRT is also assuming responsibility for most TTC buses services that formerly served Vaughan.

You must pay TTC fare when boarding the subway. If you’re transferring to or from a YRT or Viva bus, you’ll have to pay a second fare.

You can use your PRESTO fare card to pay your fares. However, you can’t use the YRT / Viva Pay App.
