Oakville Transit raising fares, January 1

Oakville Transit is raising its fares, starting New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2018.

Cash fares remain the same as 2017 — $3.75 for all passengers, except children and passengers with vision loss, who can ride free of fare.

You can still save on single rides with a PRESTO fare card, although prices are increasing by five cents. Adults pay $3, instead of $2.95; seniors $1.90, instead of $1.95; and youths $2.30, instead of $2.25.

The cost to buy monthly PRESTO passes also jumps. Adults and seniors have to shell out an extra $5, or $125 in total for adults and $60 for seniors. Youths need another $3 each month for the pass — the new price is $3.75.

The cost to connect with GO Transit is not changing. And, seniors can still ride Oakville Transit buses anywhere in Oakville free of fare every Monday!

For Oakville Transit, “seniors” are passengers 65 years of age or older. “Adults” are 20 to 64 years old. Post-secondary and adult-education students 20 years or older must pay adult fares. “Youths” are 6 to 19 years old. “Children” are five years or younger.
