The TTC is continuing its “Easier Access” program to install elevators in its subway stations, making the subway system accessible for everyone. The program supports the Government of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The provincial legislation commits the TTC to achieving a barrier-free transit system by 2025.
Sunday, April 1, TTC contractors start a project to install two elevators in Wellesley Station — one each to let passengers access the south- and northbound platforms.
During this project, crews also improve signs and wayfinding in the station and install security cameras.
The TTC is closing the bus terminal to passengers during the first phase of construction. It’s revising service along this route, while construction proceeds:
- 94 Wellesley.
Buses drop off and pick up passengers on Wellesley Street East near the station. The bus terminal is closed and the TTC continues to detour buses until December 31. “Easier Access” construction in Wellesley Station continues until 2020.
The TTC completed infrastructure for two more exits / entrances to and from the station in fall 2016. The exits — in condominium developments at 17 Dundonald Street and 587 Yonge Streets — will open when construction of the developments is complete.
(Updated — Tuesday, April 10, 5:31 p.m.) Starting Monday, April 9, TTC’s contractor repairs the ceiling above the bus roadway 24 hours a day every day.
During this phase of the project, crews:
- build scaffolding;
- hammer;
- grind steel;
- repair concrete; and
- dispose of waste.
This phase of “around-the-clock” activity on the project continues “for about six weeks” or until May 25.
Expect noise.
94 Wellesley
The TTC has a started a project to install elevators in Wellesley Station. Starting Sunday, April 1, it’s closing the station terminal to buses. It’s slightly revising the path so that buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops on Wellesley Street East near the station instead of in the terminal.
Passengers paying fares with cash, tickets or tokens require a paper transfer when connecting with buses or subway trains at Wellesley Station. Passengers using PRESTO fare cards do not require transfers.
The TTC’s also temporarily cancelling the 94Bbranch of the route: buses serving this branch short-turned in the station terminal to provide extra service between Castle Frank and Wellesley Stations every day before about 7 p.m. Instead, it’s extending the short-turn service to Queen’s Park and [introducing a new branch, 94C to designate that service.
94A branch (Ossington Station to Castle Frank Station)
Starting Sunday, April 1, eastbound buses operate along their usual route to Wellesley Street East across from Wellesley Station bus terminal, then proceed:
along their regular route eastward along Wellesley East.

Starting Monday, April 2, eastbound short-turn buses start their trips on Queen’s Park Crescent West at Hoskin Avenue, then proceed:
southward along Queen’s Park West to Wellesley Street West,
resuming the usual route eastward along Wellesley West.Eastbound short-turn buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for the short-turn service)
- on Queen’s Park Crescent West at Hoskin Avenue,
- on Wellesley Street West beside the Ontario Legislature building, east of Queen’s Park Crescent East and at Bay Street and at Yonge Street.

- every 9 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Starting Monday, April 2, the buses serve passengers at the stops:
- every 9 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, Mondays to Fridays after about 10 p.m.
Starting Saturday, April 7, the buses serve passengers:
- every 17 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, Saturdays before about 8 a.m.; and
- every 12 minutes, instead of every 13 minutes, from about 8 a.m. until noon.
Starting Sunday, April 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops between Queen’s Park and Yonge Street:
- every 6 minutes 15 seconds, instead of every 13 minutes, Sundays and holidays before about 7 p.m.; and
- every 9 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Starting Monday, April 2, the buses serve passengers at the stops:
- every 6½ minutes, instead of every 13 minutes, Mondays to Fridays before about 3 p.m.;
- every 8 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, during afternoon rush hours; and
- every 9 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Starting Saturday, April 7, the buses serve passengers:
- every 8½ minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, Saturdays before about 8 a.m.;
- every 6 minutes, instead of every 13 minutes, from about 8 a.m. until noon; and
- every 6 minutes, instead of every 13 minutes, from about noon until 7 p.m.
Starting Sunday, April 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops east of Yonge:
- every 6 minutes, instead of every 6½ minutes, Sundays and holidays from about 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.; and
- every 9 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Starting Monday, April 2, buses serve passengers at the stops:
- every 6 minutes, instead of every 6½ minutes, Mondays to Fridays before about 3 p.m.; and
- every 9 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Starting Monday, April 2, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops during afternoon rush hours:
- every 16 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, Mondays to Fridays west of Queen’s Park; and
- every 8 minutes, instead of every 7½ minutes, east of Yonge Street.
Starting Saturday, April 7, the buses serve passengers:
- every 8½ minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, Saturdays before about 8 a.m.; and
- every 6 minutes, instead of every 6½ minutes, from about 8 a.m. until noon.
Construction blocks the terminal to buses until December 31.
