Metrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.

From 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 until 6 a.m. Thursday, May 10, crews are installing a temporary bridge

• at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West with Bathurst Street, southeast corner,

near the site of the future Forest Hill Station.

The bridge allows traffic to flow on the east side of Bathurst Street, passing over the bridge while crews continue to safely work below.

Crews are setting up temporary work zones to accommodate surface equipment and site lighting to support their activity. The temporary work zones restrict traffic to just one lane for both directions:

• on Bathurst Street, west side, south of Eglinton, from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday; and
• on Eglinton Avenue West, north side, east of Bathurst, from 1:30 until 4 a.m. Thursday.

“Paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officers and traffic-control personnel will direct traffic through the single, shared lanes, alternating the flow in each direction, one at a time.

Also, for three hours, the police officers will close the entire intersection to all traffic, as crews move the bridge structure into place.

The TTC is detouring buses along the 33 Forest Hill route around the work zone. It’s also already relocated bus stopsin the area. Passengers aboard buses along these routes can also expect significant delays:

• 7 Bathurst;
• 32 Eglinton West;
• 307 Bathurst overnight; and
• 332 Eglinton West overnight.

The TTC will probably also detour the buses. However, it has not posted detour information.
