Update — Friday, May 18, 3:32 p.m.: Starting Tuesday, May 22, the City of Toronto closes Main Street to all traffic in front of the station, so that the TTC can replace the tracks there. The TTC also slightly adjusts the detour routings for some of the buses that day.
The TTC is upgrading the infrastructure at Main Street Station this spring and summer.
Contractors started working on the project Monday, April 23. Starting Sunday, May 13, the TTC is closing the station terminal to all buses to facilitate the project.
During the first phase of the project, the City of Toronto is closing Main Street to northbound traffic between Doncaster and Danforth Avenues to accommodate ongoing Hydro One work on the street. The TTC is detouring buses or revising service along these routes:
- 20 Cliffside;
- 23 Dawes;
- 62 Mortimer;
- 64 Main;
- 87 Cosburn;
- 113 Danforth;
- 135 Gerrard;
- 300 Bloor - Danforth overnight;
- 306 Carlton overnight;
- 506 Carlton.

During the project, contractors are:
- replacing the roof;
- rehabilitating sections of the bus roadway and platforms;
- improving lighting;
- relocating the walkway;
- replacing the streetcar tracks; and
- installing new overhead streetcar wiring.
(Updated — Friday, May 18, 3:32 p.m.) Starting Tuesday, May 22, the City of Toronto closes Main Street beside Main Street Station to all traffic and TTC crews replace the tracks.
They’ll work “around-the-clock” to maintain the quality when installing new rail and concrete. Most of the track work takes place from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. and will involve overnight activities, including rail installation and concrete pouring. They’ll replace old rail with the new rail, which requires them to cut, weld and grind the rail.
300 Bloor - Danforth overnight
Starting Sunday, May 13, the TTC is closing its stop westbound on Danforth Avenue at Main Street. Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop on Danforth west of Main.
