Cornwall Road construction affects
Oakville Transit service, starting June 18

This month, the Town of Oakville contractors start a major project to rebuild and widen

  • Cornwall Road between Chartwell and Morrison Roads

into a four-lane, urban roadway.

During the first phase of the project, starting Monday, June 18, Oakville Transit is relocating bus stops along this route to allow contractors to proceed:

  • 4 Speers / Cornwall.

Construction during this phase immediately impacts these westbound stops on Cornwall Road:

  • east of Morrison Road: out of service temporarily. Use the previous stop beside #1333 Cornwall Road;
  • beside Oakville Greenhouse: out of service temporarily; and
  • Chartwell Road: out of service temporarily. Use the next stop beside the Shops of Oakville South.

As the project progresses, passengers should expect more impact on transit service, including detours and delays.

Construction on Cornwall Road and the impact on Oakville Transit service continue until December 31.

This project includes:

  • widening the roadway to include two lanes in each direction. The current travel lanes will serve as the future eastbound lanes. The Town will build the two future westbound lanes.
  • installing a planted, landscaped median island.
