YRT revises routes and services, November 4



York Region Transit is making minor service changes, starting Sunday, November 4.


YRT is revising service along these routes: 2 Milliken; 4 / 4A Major Mackenzie; 9 Ninth Line; 14 14th Avenue; 16 16th Avenue; 22 King City; 33A Wellington; 50 Queensway; 55B Davis Drive; 56 Gorham - Eagle; 77 Highway 7; 90 Leslie; 91A Bayview; 165 Weston; 320 Newmarket - Beaver Creek express; 760 Vaughan Mills / Wonderland.

Specifically, YRT is: increasing service along routes; decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along a route; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the paths for buses operating along routes; revising seasonal service; revising service to and from high schools; and adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes.

Increasing service along routes


56 Gorham - Eagle

YRT diverts two more buses to Srigley Street west of Crusader Way, increasing service to and from Sacred Heart Catholic High School.

Starting Monday, November 5, the westbound bus that leaves 404 Town Centre terminal at 7:40 a.m. diverts to Sacred Heart, arriving at 7:50 a.m. The eastbound bus that leaves Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 2:20 p.m. also diverts to the school, arriving at 2:36 p.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedules for buses along the route.

A new route navigator — containing a schedule and a map — is not yet available.

90 Leslie

YRT is increasing service along the route for passengers travelling from St. Robert Catholic High School.

Starting Monday, November 4, it operates a bus on a new southbound trip along the route to pick up passengers at the school. It starts on Leslie Street north of Highway 7 at 2:38 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It ends its trip in Don Mills Station bus terminal at 3:03 p.m.

It also operates buses on new northbound trips. The buses start on Don Mills Road north of Steeles Avenue East at 2:34 and 2:38 p.m. They end their trips in the Richmond Green loop at 2:53 and 2:58 p.m.

320 Newmarket - Beaver Creek express

YRT is revising the path so that buses drop off or pick up passengers in the Highway 404 / Major Mackenzie Park and Ride carpool lot.

Starting Monday, November 5, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop

  • in the Highway 404 / Major Mackenzie Park and Ride carpool lot at platform 2.

Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop

  • in the Highway 404 / Major Mackenzie Park and Ride carpool lot at platform 2.

760 Vaughan Mills / Wonderland

YRT is adjusting the schedules to match holiday shopping hours at Vaughan Mills. It’s adding service Friday, November 23 (“Black Friday”). It’s also starting service earlier and ending it later Saturdays and Sundays in December. Finally, it offers Monday-to-Friday service from Monday, December 17 until Friday, December 21.

Decreasing service along routes


9 Ninth Line

YRT is revising the path so that buses no longer operate along Main Street Stouffville east of Tenth Line and along Eastern Gate Crescent.

Friday, November 2 was the last day that northbound buses dropped off or picked up passengers at stops

  • on Main Street Stouffville [eastbound] east of Tenth Line [south] and at Eastern Gate Crescent [east],
  • on Eastern Gate Crescent across from Sullivan and Loretta Crescents and
  • on Main Street Stouffville [westbound] at Tenth Line [north].

760 Vaughan Mills / Wonderland

Sunday, October 28 was the last day this year that YRT operated buses to and from Canada’s Wonderland. Service to and from the park resumes in spring.

Increasing the frequency of service along routes


165 Weston

YRT is increasing the frequency of service along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Starting Sunday, November 4, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 34 to 37 minutes, instead of every 40 minutes.

Decreasing the frequency of service along routes


4 / 4A Major Mackenzie

YRT is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays before about 3 p.m. By decreasing the frequency, YRT says, it’s improving service to passengers connecting with buses along the 20 Jane route.

Starting Monday, November 5, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops west and south of Major Mackenzie Drive West / Jane Street:

  • every 32 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, before about 10 a.m.; and
  • every 38 minutes, instead of every 36 minutes, from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The buses serve passengers east of Major Mackenzie / Jane:

  • every 16 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, before about 10 a.m.; and
  • every 19 minutes, instead of every 18 minutes, from about 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

2 Milliken

YRT is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Monday, November 5, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route

  • every 28 minutes, instead of every 26 minutes, during morning rush hours;
  • every 38 minutes, instead of every 36 minutes, from about 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.;
  • every 29 minutes, instead of every 26 minutes, during afternoon rush hours; and
  • every 57 minutes, instead of every 50 minutes, after about 8 p.m.

16 16th Avenue

YRT is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Sundays and holidays before about 3 p.m.

Starting Sunday, November 4, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 47 minutes, instead of every 43 minutes.

Revising the paths for buses operating along routes


320 Newmarket - Beaver Creek express

YRT is revising the path so that buses drop off or pick up passengers in the Highway 404 / Major Mackenzie Park and Ride carpool lot.

Starting Monday, November 5, southbound buses operate along their usual route to Highway 404 at the off-ramp to Major Mackenzie Drive East, then proceed:

southward along the ramp, then continue southward across Major Mackenzie East into the carpool lot, stopping at platform 2, then continuing
southward along the on-ramp to Highway 404; and then
resuming their usual route southward along Highway 404.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop

  • in the Highway 404 / Major Mackenzie Park and Ride carpool lot at platform 2.

Northbound buses operate along their usual route to Highway 404 and the off-ramp to Major Mackenzie East, then proceed:

northward along the ramp;
westward along Major Mackenzie;
southward into the carpool lot, stopping at platform 2, then continuing
eastward along Major Mackenzie; and then
south-, west- and northward along the Highway 404 on-ramp,
resuming their usual route northward along Highway 404.

Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop

  • in the Highway 404 / Major Mackenzie Park and Ride carpool lot at platform 2.

9 Ninth Line

YRT is revising the path so that buses no longer operate along Main Street Stouffville east of Tenth Line and along Eastern Gate Crescent.

Starting Monday, November 5, all northbound buses operate along their usual route to Main Street and Tenth Line, then proceed:

along their usual route southward along Tenth.

Friday, November 2 was the last day that northbound buses dropped off or picked up passengers at stops

  • on Main Street Stouffville [eastbound] east of Tenth Line [south] and at Eastern Gate Crescent [east],
  • on Eastern Gate Crescent across from Sullivan and Loretta Crescents and

YRT is increasing service to and from Sacred Heart Catholic High School and adjusting the schedules to improve service for passengers travelling between Leslie Valley Drive and the school.


Adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes


91A Bayview

Starting Wednesday, October 17, the southbound bus that usually leaves Woodriver Street East of Bayview Avenue at 6:44 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, two minutes earlier at 6:42 a.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as two minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 7:19 a.m.

55B Davis Drive

Starting Wednesday, October 17, YRT is adjusting the schedules Mondays to Fridays. By adjusting the schedules, it improves service for passengers travelling between Leslie Valley Drive and Sacred Heart Catholic High School.

Monday-to-Friday mornings, passengers travelling toward Sacred Heart can board a bus along the 55B Davis Drive route leaving from Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 7:05 p.m. The bus arrives on Davis west of Harry Walker Parkway at 7:31 a.m. Exit the bus and wait for a westbound bus along the 56 Gorham - Eagle route, arriving at 7:41 a.m. Board that bus and ride it to Sacred Heart, where it arrives at 7:50 a.m.

Afternoons, board an eastbound bus along the 56 Gorham - Eagle route, leaving Srigley Street west of Crusader Way - beside Sacred Heart Catholic High School - at 2:36 p.m. The bus arrives on Davis east of Forhan Avenue at 2:44 p.m. Exit the bus and wait for a westbound bus along the 55B **Davis Drive route, which arrives at 2:51 p.m. Board the bus to travel to Leslie Valley.

14 14th Avenue

YRT is adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route to improve service for passengers travelling from Bill Hogarth Secondary School.

Starting Monday, November 5, the eastbound bus that usually leaves Denison Street east of Woodbine Avenue at 3:28 p.m. leaves, instead, four minutes later at 3:32 p.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as four minutes later than usually. It ends its trip at the Box Grove Walmart at 4:14 p.m.

The westbound bus that usually leaves Walmart at 4:17 p.m. leaves, instead, two minutes later at at 4:19 p.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as two minutes later than usually. It ends its trip on Denison east of Woodbine at 4:53 p.m.

56 Gorham - Eagle

Starting Wednesday, October 17, YRT is increasing service to Sacred Heart Catholic High School by diverting two more buses to operate to and from the school.

It’s also adjusting the schedules to improve service for passengers travelling between the school and Leslie Valley Drive.

Monday-to-Friday mornings, passengers travelling toward Sacred Heart can board a bus along the 55B Davis Drive route leaving from Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 7:05 p.m. The bus arrives on Davis west of Harry Walker Parkway at 7:31 a.m. Exit the bus and wait for a westbound bus along the 56 Gorham - Eagle route, arriving at 7:41 a.m. Board that bus and ride it to Sacred Heart, where it arrives at 7:50 a.m.

Starting Monday, October 1, YRT adjusts the schedules for buses operating along the route Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours. By adjusting the schedules, YRT improves service for passengers connecting with GO Transit trains at Newmarket GO Station.

The northbound bus that usually leaves Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 4:35 p.m. leaves, instead, five minutes later at 4:40 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as five minutes later than usually. It arrives on Davis Drive across from Newmarket GO Station at 4:49 p.m. It ends its trip in Sutton on High Street east of Burke Street at 5:58 p.m.

The southbound bus that usually leaves Sutton at 5:59 p.m. leaves, instead, five minutes later at 6:04 p.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as five minutes later than usually. It arrives on Davis Drive beside Newmarket GO Station at 7:08 p.m. It ends its trip in Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 7:14 p.m.

Sundays, November 4, November 11, November 18 andNovember 25, northbound buses leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 10:09 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 6:42 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 10:45 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 7:23 p.m.

Southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 10:54 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 7:29 p.m. They arrive in Finch terminal at 11:34 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 8:09 p.m.

Sunday, December 2, December 9 and December 16, northbound buses leave Finch GO Bus Terminal at 9:12 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 7:39 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 9:48 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 8:13 p.m.

Southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 10:54 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 7:29 p.m. They arrive in Finch terminal at 11:34 a.m. and every 21 minutes until 8:09 p.m.


Saturdays, November 10, November 17 and November 24, northbound buses leave Finch at 9:12 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 8:36 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills terminal at 9:48 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 9:10 p.m.

Southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 9:57 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 9:22 p.m. They end their trips in Finch terminal at 10:37 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 9:59 p.m.

Saturdays, December 1, December 8, December 15 and December 22, northbound buses leave Finch at 8:15 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 9:33 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills terminal at 8:51 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 10:08 p.m.

Southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 9 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 10:19 p.m. They end their trips in Finch terminal at 9:40 a.m. and every 19 minutes until 10:56 p.m.


Friday, November 23 (“Black Friday”), northbound buses leave Finch at 7:17 a.m. and every 31 minute until 8:43 p.m. They end their trip in Vaughan Mills terminal at 7:53 and every 31 minutes until 9:17 p.m.

Southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 8:01 a.m. and every 31 minutes until 9:32 p.m. They end their trips in Finch terminal at 8:41 a.m. and every 31 minutes until 10:05 p.m.


Mondays to Fridays from Monday, December 17 until Friday, December 21, northbound buses leave Finch at 8:19 and every 31 minutes until 9:45 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills terminal at 8:55 a.m. and every 31 minutes until 10:20 p.m.

Southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 9:03 a.m. and every 31 minutes until 10:30 p.m. They end their trips in Finch terminal at 9:43 a.m. and every 31 minutes until 11:07 p.m.

33A Wellington

Starting Monday, October 1, YRT adjusts the schedules for buses operating along the 33A branch of the route Mondays to Fridays. By adjusting the schedules, it improves service for passengers connecting with GO Transit trains at Aurora GO Station.

The westbound bus that usually leaves St. John’s Sideroad East west of Earl Steward Drive at 7:07 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, three minutes earlier at 7:04 a.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as three minutes earlier than usually. It arrives in Aurora GO Station bus terminal at 7:19 a.m. It ends its trip on Wellington Street West east of Murray Drive at 7:29 a.m.
