TTC cancelling Metropasses, December 31

Monday, December 31 is the last day you can use a Metropass to pay your fare on the TTC. The TTC is cancelling the Metropass program, but you can still buy a TTC monthly pass, 12-month pass or post-secondary monthly pass with a PRESTO fare-card. These passes are available for sale from the last eight days of the month until five days after the start of the next month.

You can buy your PRESTO card online at or at

  • fare-vending machines at subway stations;
  • Shoppers Drug Mart stores; or
  • the TTC’s Customer Service Centre above Davisville Station.

Cards cost $6. If you are a child, youth or senior, you will need to have someone set your card to deduct a child, youth or senior fare. You can do this at Shoppers Drug Mart locations or the TTC’s Customer Service Centre above Davisville Station. You must bring government-issued photo identification with you so you can prove your age and your eligibility to qualify for these special fare categories.

Children ages 6 to 12 still ride for free but also require a PRESTO card to enter a subway station and when boarding a bus or streetcar.
