Free rides for kids 12 years or younger,
aboard GO buses, trains, starting March 9

Starting Saturday, March 9, kids 12 years and younger can ride free of fare aboard all GO Transit trains and buses.

Children do not require a PRESTO card or paper ticket to ride GO Transit. However, if a child transfers to or from a local transit service, they’ll only be eligible for the co-fare discount when they use a PRESTO card.

This doesn’t apply to the TTC, because children 12 and younger always travel for free. (However, children usually need a PRESTO card to board TTC subway trains or enter subway station terminals.)

Kids can also ride UP Express trains for free.

As a pilot, GO has offered free rides aboard buses and trains serving the Barrie corridor since Saturday, April 28, 2018. Kids rode for free aboard trains along the 65 Barrie line and buses along the 63 King City / Toronto, 65 Newmarket / Toronto, 68 Barrie / Newmarket and 69 Newmarket / Aurora routes.
