DRT hosts information events on service plans,
April 1 to 17

Durham Region Transit is again hosting its annual public information centres throughout Durham Region. This year, DRT holds 11 sessions, starting Monday, April 1 in Whitby and wrapping up Wednesday, April 17 in Port Perry.

During these events, you can meet service-planning staff and provide feedback as DRT begins planning for 2020. You can also learn more about DRT’s 2019 plans to improve its services.

The 2019 DRT Service Plan focuses on enhancing the frequent network, expanding to new communities and employment areas, advancing transit in north Durham and providing additional capacity on DRT’s busiest transit routes. The DRT 2019 Service Plan presents an investment of nearly 8,000 new annualized service hours.

DRT staff have scheduled the events:

Getting there by public transit

  • Southbound DRT buses operating along the 303 Garden route to Garden Street North south of Rossland Road East. Walk northward to Rossland East, then westward to the regional headquarters.
  • Northbound DRT buses operating along the 303 Garden route to Garden Street North at Heaver Drive. Walk northward to Rossland East, then cross at the signal to the southwest corner, then continue westward to the regional headquarters.
  • Westbound DRT buses operating along the 916 Rossland route to Rossland Road East and Garden Street North. Cross at the signal to the southwest corner, then continue westward to the regional headquarters.
  • Eastbound DRT buses operating along the 312 Whitby community and 916 Rossland routes to Rossland Road East at Garden Street North, beside regional headquarters.

  • Northbound DRT buses operating along the 216 Harwood North route to Harwood Avenue South at King’s Crescent [north]. Cross King’s at the signal and walk northward along Harwood South to the Library.
  • Southbound DRT buses operating along the 216 Harwood North route to Harwood Avenue South south of the entrance into Ajax Plaza across from King’s Crescent [north]. Walk northward to the entrance, then cross at the signal to the northeast corner of Harwood South and King’s. Walk northward to the library.
  • Southbound DRT buses operating along the 218 Beach route to Station Street at Harwood Avenue South. Cross Harwood South at the signal, then walk south to the library. (No service after 7 p.m.)
  • Westbound DRT buses operating along the 224 Harwood South / Salem South route to Harwood Avenue South at King’s Crescent [north]. Cross King’s and walk northward along Harwood South to the Library.
  • Eastbound DRT buses operating along the 224 Harwood South / Salem South route to to Station Street at Harwood Avenue South. Cross Harwood South at the signal, then walk south to the library.

Getting there by public transit

  • This location is difficult to access by public transit.
  • DRT buses along the 601 Brock - Uxbridge route stop across Highway 12 from the store, but the last bus before the event arrives at 11:33 a.m. Cross to the store at the signal.
  • A southbound bus GO along the 81 Port Perry / Whitby route passes the intersection of Regional Road 15 and Highway 12, just south of the store, but GO does not have an official stop there. Drivers may be able to drop you off on request. It leaves central Beaverton at 10:54 a.m.
  • Similarly, a northbound GO bus along route 81 arrives in Beaverton at 11:53 a.m.

Walk to the west end of the station to Henry Street. Walk southward two blocks along Henry across Highway 401 to Victoria Street West, then two blocks westward to the sports centre.   • GO trains operating along the 09 Lakeshore East line to Whitby GO Station. Walk to the west end of the station to Henry Street. Walk southward two blocks along Henry across Highway 401 to Victoria Street West, then two blocks westward to the sports centre. Or transfer to southbound buses operating along the 308 Whitby Shores route.
  • GO buses operating along the 81 Port Perry / Whitby route to Whitby GO Station. Walk to the west end of the station to Henry Street.
