Burnhamthorpe water project: Road closure,
GO detours, May 23, 24, 25, 26

From 11:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23 until 4:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, the City of Mississauga is closing:

  • Duke of York Boulevard, between Prince of Wales Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road West

to accommodate Region of Peel contractors who are moving a large drill rig as part of a project to install new water-mains and sewers. (The work is just one component of the larger Burnhamthorpe water project to improve water services in the Mississauga City Centre area.)

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, the City is closing

  • Duke of York Boulevard, northbound lanes only between City Centre and Prince of Wales Drives

to provide a safe work area for the artist painting a mural on the hoarding surrounding the work zone at Duke of York and City Centre.

GO Transit is detouring buses along these routes, while the street is closed:

  • 19 Mississauga / North York; and
  • 21 Milton / Toronto.

(MiWay has already revised the paths of its buses so that they operate along other nearby streets, instead of Duke of York, during this long-term project.)

21 / 21H Milton / Toronto

(GO has confirmed that buses are detouring, but has not confirmed exact detour-routing information. We’ve based this section of the post on information GO has supplied during previous occasions that construction has blocked Duke of York Boulevard. GO Transit control may revise the detour routing, depending on traffic conditions.)

From 11:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23 until 4:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Station Gate Road and Rathburn Road West (Square One GO Bus Terminal), then proceed:

eastward along Rathburn West; and then
southward along City Centre Drive to Robert Speck Parkway West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Robert Speck West.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Duke of York Boulevard at Princess Royal Drive and
  • on City Centre Drive across from Mercer Street and at Robert Speck Parkway West.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.
