Eglinton Crosstown LRT - Birchmount:
Road closure, TTC detour, July 6 to 7

Eglinton Crosstown header.jpg

Metrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.

Crews continue get ready to build the LRT “guideway” — the transit-only lanes in the centre of the roadway, including tracks and passenger amenities

  • on Eglinton Avenue East at Birchmount Road

near the site of the future Birchmount stop.

The contractors must reconstruct the pavement at intersections on Eglinton Avenue East between Birchmount Road and Victoria Park Avenue before they can install the guideway infrastructure.

Starting 5 a.m. Saturday, July 6, crews pave traffic lanes on the north side of Eglinton East, blocking vehicle access to Birchmount north of Eglinton. The work zone also blocks north-south through traffic on Birchmount.

Paving the south side of Eglinton at Birchmount and the resulting TTC service changes continue until 11 p.m. July 7.
