Eglinton Crosstown LRT - Science Centre: New traffic-lane set-up, starting September 30

Metrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.


“As early as” Monday, September 30, contractor crews reconfigure traffic lanes

  • at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue East with Don Mills Road

near the site of the future Science Centre Station.

They’re opening up an extra north- and southbound lane on Don Mills and realigning eastbound lanes on Eglinton East, so they can backfill and remove the temporary decking.

They work in three stages during this phase of the project:

  • Stage 1 - Starting Monday, September 30 “for up to three (3) weeks” or until about October 20;
  • Stage 2 - Starting “mid-October” or Monday, October 21 and continuing “for up to three (3) days” or until about October 23; and
  • Stage 3 - Starting about Thursday, October 24 until “late 2020” or until about December 31, 2020.

For transit passengers

  • The TTC has already relocated bus stops near the site of the future station. It may also temporarily further relocate sites near work zones when necessary.
  • Also expect delays aboard buses along these routes:
  • 25A / 25B Don Mills;
  • 34A / 34B / 34C Eglinton East;
  • 54A / 54B Lawrence East;
  • 100A Flemingdon Park;
  • 325 Don Mills overnight;
  • 334 Eglinton East overnight;
  • 354 Lawrence East overnight;
  • 403 South Don Mills community bus; and
  • 925 Don Mills express.

For pedestrians

  • The sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton west of Don Mills remains closed.
  • The sidewalk on the west side of Don Mills south of Eglinton remains closed.
  • A work zone blocks the sidewalk on the northeast corner of Don Mills and Eglinton. A temporary walkway leads you through the work zone on the east side of Don Mills north of Eglinton.

For motorists

  • Starting Monday, September 30, crews reconfigure traffic lanes so that an extra north- and southbound lane are available for traffic on Don Mills.
  • At least three lanes are available for traffic in each direction on Don Mills north and south of Eglinton.
  • Starting Monday, September 30, crews reconfigure traffic eastbound traffic lanes so that a left-turn lane, a through lane and a shared through and right-turn lane are available for traffic on Eglinton East west of Don Mills.
  • Work zones continue to block the centre lanes on Eglinton east and west of Don Mills.
  • A work zone blocks the eastbound curb lane on Eglinton west of Don Mills.
  • Three lanes are available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton east of Don Mills.
  • Two lanes are available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton west of Don Mills.

  • Work zones continue to block the centre lanes on Eglinton east and west of Don Mills.
  • A work zone blocks the eastbound curb lane on Eglinton west of Don Mills.
  • Three lanes are available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton east of Don Mills.
  • Two lanes are available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton west of Don Mills.

  • Work zones continue to block the centre lanes on Eglinton east and west of Don Mills.
  • A work zone blocks the eastbound curb lane on Eglinton west of Don Mills.
  • Three lanes are available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton east of Don Mills.
  • Two lanes are available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton west of Don Mills.
