Update — Thursday, December 19, 9:54 a.m.: From 12:01 until 5 a.m. Friday, December 19, the TTC again replaces streetcars with buses east of Russell Carhouse, as crews install overhead wiring above part of the intersection.
*Update — Sunday, November 24, 6:26 p.m.: The TTC restored streetcar service along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes east of Russell Carhouse today. Crews continue to upgrade the overhead wiring at the intersection until December 31.
Tuesday, September 3, the City of Toronto and the TTC started a project to replace the streetcar tracks and the streetcar overhead wiring
- at the intersection of Queen Street East with Kingston Road / Eastern Avenue
and in the TTC’s Woodbine Loop.
The City closed the intersection to all vehicles Monday, September 9 and the TTC started detouring services around the work zone that day.
Starting 5 a.m. Monday, October 28, the City reopens the intersection to traffic and the TTC resumes regular service along most routes through the area.
However, TTC crews are continuing to upgrade the streetcar overhead wire infrastructure, before regular streetcar service can resume.
It’s detouring streetcars along these routes, while the crews continue working:
Shuttle buses replace the overnight and regular / daytime cars.
Construction at Queen East / Eastern / Kingston and the resulting TTC service changes continue until 5 a.m. November 24.
Starting 5 a.m. Monday, October 28, the TTC resumes regular service along these routes:
- 22 / 22A Coxwell;
- 322 Coxwell overnight; and
- 503 Kingston Rd.
The TTC continues to cancel service along the 502 Downtowner route, but also is increasing the frequency of service along route 503 to replace regular route 502 service.
It also continues to detour buses along this route:
- 143 Downtown / Beach express.
501 Queen
From 5 a.m. Monday, October 28 until 5 a.m. Sunday, November 24, streetcars start and end their trips in Russell Carhouse at Queen Street East and Connaught Avenue.
