Santa Claus is coming to town — or, at least, to six communities, cities and towns in the Greater Golden Horseshoe — this weekend.

He’s a busy man as parades welcome him to Brantford, Burlington, the Courtice area of Clarington, Mississauga, the Rexdale area of Toronto and the Waterdown area of Hamilton. The parades affect transit services this weekend.

Other seasonal events also disrupt transit services in the Kleinburg area of Vaughan, Oakville, Pickering and central Toronto.

From 4 until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, November 30, the TTC replaces streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route with buses between Bathurst and Jarvis Streets.

Eastbound buses start their trips in Wolseley Loop (on the east side of Bathurst Street just north of Queen Street West), then proceed:

southward along Bathurst;
eastward along Queen Street West
southward along University Avenue;
eastward along Adelaide Street West;
northward along Church Street; and then
eastward along Shuter Street to Jarvis Street,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Queen Street West at Augusta and Spadina Avenues, Peter and John Streets and University Avenue,
  • on Adelaide Street West east of University Avenue and at Bay Street,

Eastbound bus passengers may transfer to eastbound streetcars on Church Street at Queen Street East.

Toronto Christmas Market

The Distillery District is hosting the market again this year.

The TTC is operating extra service to help passengers travel to and from the market.

121 Fort York - Esplanade

The TTC is doubling the frequency of service along the route early Monday-to-Friday evenings for passengers travelling to and from the market.

Starting Monday, November 25, extra buses operate between Union Station and Mill Street west of Cherry Street Mondays to Fridays from about 7 until 10 p.m.

They drop off or pick up passengers at stops east of Union Station

  • every 15 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.

The TTC designates buses providing this temporary, seasonal service as operating along the 121S branch of the route.

Westbound buses serving the temporary branch operate along the regular path for buses along route 121 to Yonge and Front Streets, then proceed:

northward along Yonge;
westward along Wellington Street West;
southward along Bay Street; and then
eastward along Front Street West to just east of Bay Street,
ending their trips at the regular eastbound route 121 stop

Eastbound buses start their trips on Front Street West, just east of Bay Street, then proceed:

along their regular route eastward along Front West.

Extra service for the Toronto Christmas Market continues until December 20.

504A King

The TTC is operating extra, short-turn “tripper” streetcars along the route early evenings for passengers travelling to and from the market.

Starting Sunday, November 24, two Toronto Flexity low-floor, accessible cars provide the extra service every day from about 7 until 10 p.m. The cars operate between Charlotte and Distillery Loops. (Charlotte Loop is near King Street West and Spadina Avenue.)

Extra service for the Toronto Christmas Market continues until December 21.

65 Parliament

The TTC is doubling the frequency of service along the route early Monday-to-Friday evenings and Saturday, Sunday and holiday evenings, for passengers travelling to and from the market.

Starting Sunday, November 24, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 7½ minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, Sundays and holidays after about 7 p.m.

Starting Monday, November 25, the buses serve passengers at stops:

  • every 9 minutes, instead of every 18 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 7 until 10 p.m.

Starting Saturday, November 30, the buses serve passengers:

  • every 8 minutes, instead of every 16 minutes, Saturdays from about 7 until 10 p.m.; and
  • every 7½ minutes, instead of every 8 minutes, after about 10 p.m.

The City of Hamilton is closing:
