Queen East / Kingston / Eastern construction:
TTC overhead work, detours, December 20



From 12:01 until 5 a.m. Friday, December 20, TTC overhead crews are installing new overhead streetcar contact wire at

  • the intersection of Queen Street East with Kingston Road / Eastern Avenue.

This continuing overhead work is part of the track rehabilitation project earlier this year. This time, crews are installing new wiring for the east-to-north and south-to-west streetcar turns. The TTC will schedule overhead-wire installation work at the entrance and exit of Woodbine Loop crossing both Kingston Road and Queen Street East for a later date.

While the crews work, the TTC is short-turning streetcars at Connaught Avenue (Russell Carhouse) along these routes:

  • 301 Queen overnight; and
  • 501 Queen

Shuttle buses replace the cars east of Connaught.

From 12:01 until 5 a.m. Friday, December 20, streetcars start and end their trips in Russell Carhouse.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Neville Park Loop and
  • on Queen Street East at Neville Park Boulevard, Silver Birch Avenue, Glen Manor Drive, Wineva, Bellefair, Elmer and Woodbine Avenues, Lockwood and Kingston Roads, Coxwell Avenue and Woodfield Road.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street East at Woodfield Road, Coxwell, Sarah Ashbridge and Woodbine Avenues, across from Elmer and Bellefair Avenues, at Wineva Avenue, Glen Manor Drive, Beech and Silver Birch Avenues and Neville Park Boulevard and
  • in Neville Park Loop.

Shuttle buses replace the cars east of Russell Carhouse.

301 / 501 Queen shuttle buses

From 12:01 until 5 a.m. Friday, December 20, buses replace streetcars along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes east of Russell Carhouse.

Westbound buses start their trips in Neville Park Loop, then proceed:

westward along Queen Street East;
southward along Leslie Street; and then
westward along Eastern Avenue to Carlaw Avenue,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Neville Park Loop and
  • on Queen Street East at Neville Park Boulevard, Silver Birch Avenue, Glen Manor Drive, Wineva, Bellefair, Elmer and Woodbine Avenues, Lockwood and Kingston Roads, Coxwell Avenue, Woodfield Road, Greenwood and Alton Avenues,
  • on Leslie Street south of Queen Street East and
  • on Eastern Avenue at Carlaw Avenue.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Eastern Avenue east of Carlaw Avenue, then proceed:

northward along Carlaw;
eastward along Queen Street East; and then
southward into Neville Park Loop,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Eastern Avenue at Carlaw Avenue,
  • on Carlaw Avenue at Queen Street East,
  • on Queen Street East at Pape and Caroline Avenues, across from Jones Avenue, at Leslie and Laing Streets, across from Greenwood Avenue, at Woodfield Road, Coxwell, Sarah Ashbridge and Woodbine Avenues, across from Elmer and Bellefair Avenues, at Wineva Avenue, Glen Manor Drive, Beech and Silver Birch Avenues and Neville Park Boulevard and
  • in Neville Park Loop.
