Toronto Water activity on Spadina or Lower Spadina: TTC overnight detour, March 5



From 12:01 until 4 a.m. Thursday, March 5, the TTC is detouring streetcars along these routes during “[City of] Toronto Water work”:

  • 310 Spadina overnight; and
  • 510 Spadina.

The TTC has not specified the location for the Toronto Water project, but it’s likely taking place on

  • Spadina Avenue or Lower Spadina Avenue south of King Street West.

Shuttle buses replace streetcars south and east of Spadina Avenue / King Street West.

From 12:01 until 4 a.m. Thursday, March 5, southbound cars operate along their regular routes to Spadina Avenue and Adelaide Street West, then detour:

eastward along Adelaide West; and then
southward along Charlotte Street to Oxley Street,
ending their trips.

Southbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Spadina Avenue at King and Front Streets West,
  • on Lower Spadina Avenue at Fort York Boulevard,
  • on Queens Quay West east of Lower Spadina Avenue, at Rees Street and west of York Street and

  • in the Bay streetcar tunnel

  • at Queens Quay Station and
  • at Union Station.

Instead, southbound cars drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street.

Shuttle buses replace the cars south and east of Spadina Avenue / King Street West. Southbound streetcar passengers may board southbound buses on Spadina Avenue south of Queen Street West.

Northbound cars start their trips on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street, then proceed:

southward along Charlotte; and then
westward along King Street West to Spadina Avenue,
resuming their regular route northward along Spadina.

Northbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in the Bay streetcar tunnel
  • at Union Station and
  • at Queens Quay Station.
  • on Queens Quay West west of York and Rees Streets,
  • on Lower Spadina Avenue north of Queens Quay West and Bremner Boulevard and
  • on Spadina Avenue north of Front Street West.

Instead, northbound cars pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street.

Shuttle buses replace the cars south and east of Spadina Avenue / King Street West.

From 12:01 until 4 a.m. Thursday, March 5, buses replace streetcars along the 310 Spadina overnight and 510 Spadina routes south and east of King Street West / Spadina Avenue.

South- and eastbound buses start their trips on Adelaide Street West east of Spadina Avenue, then proceed:

eastward along Adelaide West;
northward along Peter Street;
westward along Queen Street West;
southward along Spadina and Lower Spadina Avenues;
eastward along Queens Quay West;
northward along Bay Street;
eastward along Adelaide West; and then
southward along Yonge Street to King Street West,
ending their trips.

South- and eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Spadina Avenue south of Queen Street West and at King and Front Streets West
  • on Lower Spadina Avenue at Fort York Boulevard,
  • on Queens Quay West east of Lower Spadina Avenue, at Rees Street and west of York Street,
  • on Bay Street north of Queens Quay West and Lake Shore Boulevard West and at Front, Wellington and King Streets West and
  • on Yonge Street at King Street West.

Buses drop off or pick up passengers on Spadina Avenue, Lower Spadina Avenue and Queens Quay West at stops beside the curb, instead of the centre-road “island” streetcar stops.

West- and northbound buses start their trips southbound on Yonge Street at King Street West, then proceed:

southward along Yonge;
westward along Wellington Street West;
southward along Bay Street;
westward along Queens Quay West;
northward along Lower Spadina and Spadina Avenues; and then
eastward along Adelaide Street West to just east of Spadina,
ending their trips.

West- and northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Yonge Street at King Street West,
  • on Bay Street at Front Street West and south of Harbour Street,

  • on Queens Quay West west of York and Rees Streets,

  • on Lower Spadina Avenue north of Queens Quay West and Bremner Boulevard and
  • on Spadina Avenue north of Front and King Streets West.

West- and northbound bus passengers may transfer to northbound cars at the stop on Spadina Avenue north of King Street West.

Buses drop off or pick up passengers on Queens Quay West, Lower Spadina Avenue and Spadina Avenue at stops beside the curb, instead of the centre-road “island” streetcar stops.
