TTC encouraging passengers to avoid early-morning trips along ten routes

The TTC is encouraging its passengers to avoid travelling aboard buses along ten routes Mondays to Fridays before 7 a.m.

Buses along all of these routes are overcrowded early mornings, making it difficult for passengers to maintain social distancing.

The routes are:

  • 29 Dufferin;
  • 35 Jane;
  • 41 Keele;
  • 44 Kipling South;
  • 96 Wilson;
  • 102 Markham Rd;
  • 117 Alness - Chesswood;
  • 119 Torbarrie;
  • 123 Sherway; and
  • 165 Weston Rd North.

The TTC says, “Unless your trip is essential, please consider travelling after 7:30 a.m. to encourage physical distancing. Also, please practice physical distancing at bus stops and on-board vehicles.”

As Sean Marshall points out in a recent post on his blog, Marshall’s Musings, many of these routes serve industrial areas, including food-processing warehouses and shipping centres, whose employees may have little choice as to their work start-times. Routes 41, 96, 119 and 165 also operate near major health facilities.

The TTC has also announced that it’s deploying fare inspectors across TTC subway stations to provide customer service. They will not be conducting fare inspections and are also no longer travelling on TTC vehicles.
