Yesterday, Tuesday, March 31, the TTC announced that it was encouraging passengers to avoid travelling early Monday-to-Friday mornings aboard buses along ten routes.

Today, Wednesday, April 1, the transit agency has announced that it is deploying extra buses to those ten routes — and others — to relieve overcrowding on the buses and help passengers maintain social distancing.

Extra buses are operating early Monday-to-Friday mornings and during morning rush hours along these routes:

• 29 Dufferin - 4 extra buses;
• 35 Jane - 6 extra buses;
• 37 Islington - 3 extra buses;
• 39 Finch East - 4 extra buses;
• 41 Keele - 4 extra buses;
• 44 Kipling South - 2 extra buses;
• 52A Lawrence West - 2 extra buses (Airport trips);
• 96 Wilson - 4 extra buses;
• 102 Markham Rd - 4 extra buses;
• 117 Alness - Chesswood - 2 extra buses;
• 119 Torbarrie - 2 extra buses;
• 123 Sherway - 2 extra buses;
• 165 Weston Rd North - 3 extra buses;
• 300 Bloor - Danforth overnight - 5 extra buses; and
• 320 Yonge overnight - 4 extra buses.

The TTC is also assigning 14 supervisors to key positions throughout the system to direct more buses to where they are needed most on high-ridership routes. Transit Control also has extra staff working to help manage service throughout the TTC system.

The TTC says, “Please note that this is today’s list and it may fluctuate throughout the day and on other days going forward.”
