(Updated — Monday, April 6, 2:47 p.m.) Starting 9 a.m. Monday, April 6 April 27, Region of Halton contractors start phase 2 of a project to upgrade

• Britannia Road (Regional Road 6) between Tremaine Road (Regional Road 22) and Ontario Street South (Regional Road 25).

During this project, the Region intends to:

• widen the road to six lanes;
• build an overpass across the Canadian National Railway’s Halton subdivision tracks;
• install new sidewalks and multi-use paths;
• install on-road bike lanes;
• install turning lanes and traffic signals at Ontario South; and
• landscape.

(Updated — Monday, April 6, 2:47 p.m.) Although Britannia Road is mostly open to east- and westbound traffic, starting April 6 April 27, it’s closing access to the roadway at three intersections:

• Bronte Street South / First Line West;
• Chretien Street; and
• Leger Way.

Milton Transit is detouring buses along this route, while access is unavailable:

• 10 Farmstead.

(Updated — Monday, April 6, 2:47 p.m.) The work zone blocks access to Britannia at the three intersections and Milton Transit continues to detour buses until 7 p.m. October 9 October 23.

Phase 1 of the project started last September, but did not affect transit services.
