GO Transit says its ridership has decreased 90 percent as people are heeding public health advice to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting Wednesday, April 8, is further decreasing service along train lines and bus routes. It says it’s revising schedules “to sustain service our [passengers] can rely on” as people stay at home and socially distance themselves during this time.
Trains continue to operate along all lines - but with less frequent service. GO is also decreasing and adjusting bus service so that passengers can continue to connect with trains.
GO previously decreased service due to the COVID-19 crisis Wednesday, March 18.
GO is decreasing service along all of its rail lines:
- 01 Lakeshore West;
- 09 Lakeshore East;
- 21 Milton;
- 31 Kitchener;
- 61 Richmond Hill;
- 65 Barrie; and
- 71 Stouffville.
With the new schedules, some trains may leave from different platforms at Union Station than usually. Be sure to check the departure board before heading to the platform and give yourself a little extra time.
GO is reducing all trains on all lines - except the two Lakeshore lines — to six coaches, it says, to better use its resources, while ridership is low. You may have to adjust where you wait on the platform, depending on your station, because of the shorter trains.
GO is also revising service along these bus routes:
- 12 Niagara Falls / Burlington;
- 15 Brantford / Burlington;
- 18 Lakeshore West;
- 19 Mississauga / North York;
- 27 Milton / North York;
- 30 Kitchener / Brampton;
- 33 Guelph / Georgetown North York;

- 37 Orangeville / Brampton;
- 38 Bolton / Mississauga;
- 61 Richmond Hill / Toronto;
- 81 Port Perry / Whitby;
- 96 Oshawa / Yorkdale.
This series of schedule changes only affects Monday-to-Friday service. Saturday, Sunday and holiday schedules remain the same as previously.
65 Barrie trains
Starting Wednesday, April 8, GO is cancelling the southbound trains that usually leave Allandale Waterfront GO Station at 5:40 and 6:40 a.m. (The trains usually ended their trips in Union Station at 7:23 and 8:23 a.m.)
It’s also cancelling the northbound trains that usually leave Union at 4:40 and 5:30 p.m. (The trains usually end their trips in Allandale at 6:20 and 7:10 p.m.

Starting Wednesday, April 8, the southbound bus that usually leaves Queen Street North across from Columbia Way in Bolton at 5:41 a.m. leaves, instead, at 5:11 a.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as 30 minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip in Malton GO Station bus terminal at 5:51 a.m.
The southbound bus that usually leaves Bolton at 6:36 a.m. leaves, instead, at 6:11 a.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as 25 minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip in Malton at 6:56 a.m.

It’s also cancelling the westbound buses that usually leave Aldershot at 7:24, 8:34, 9:29, 10:34 and 11:29 a.m. and 6:29, 8:29 and 9:29 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in “Mac” terminal at 7:39, 8:49, 9:44, 10:49 and 11:44 a.m. and 6:47, 8:44 and 9:44 a.m.)

Although GO is generally decreasing service along most routes and lines, it’s also operating a westbound bus on a new trip along the route. By adding the new trip to the schedule, GO says, it’s providing more travel options for passengers along the Kitchener rail corridor.
Starting Wednesday, April 8, the bus starts its trip in York Mills GO Bus terminal at 4 p.m. It leaves Mount Pleasant GO Station at 5:50 p.m. It ends its trip in the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph campus at 7:10 p.m.

31 Kitchener trains
Starting Wednesday, April 8, the eastbound train that usually starts its trip in Georgetown GO Station at 5:29 a.m., starts, instead, in Kitchener GO Station at 4:35. It arrives in Georgetown at its usually time and ends its trip in Union Station at 6:32 a.m.
The eastbound train that usually starts in Kitchener at 6:10 a.m. starts, instead, at 6:45 a.m. (It ends its trip in Union at 7:43 a.m.)
GO is cancelling the eastbound train that usually leaves Georgetown GO Station at 7:24 a.m. (The train usually ends its trip in Union at 8:28 a.m.)
Instead, it’s operating a train on a new eastbound trip along the line. The train leaves Mount Pleasant GO Station at 8 a.m. It ends its trip in Union at 8:51 a.m.
GO is also cancelling the eastbound train that usually leaves Mount Pleasant at 10 p.m. (It usually ends its trip in Union at 10:51 p.m.)
GO is cancelling the westbound train that usually leaves Union at 4:13 a.m. (It usually ends its trip in Georgetown at 5:22 a.m.
