TTC removing streetcar overhead infrastructure on Bathurst, April 27 to 29

From 1 until 5 a.m. Monday, April 27 until Wednesday, April 29, TTC overhead crews are working to remove the “overhead infrastructure” (wiring)

  • on Bathurst Street between Front Street and Fort York Boulevard.

Crews also remove feeder cables at the poles on the west sidewalk from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. those days.

The overnight work zone restricts traffic to just one lane for each direction. The daytime work zone blocks the west sidewalk and the southbound curb lane.

TTC passengers aboard buses along these routes can expect delays:

  • 307 Bathurst overnight; and
  • 511 Bathurst.

Crews use two overhead trucks on each shift. A support truck will also remove materials. Expect to hear back-up beepers when the trucks reverse and see bright site lighting overnight.

Crews are removing the infrastructure to prepare for an upcoming City of Toronto / TTC project to rehabilitate

  • the Sir Isaac Brock Bridge over the Metrolinx tracks on Bathurst Street between Front West and Fort York.

The City and TTC intend to start this joint project — which includes renewing the streetcar tracks and overhead — Sunday, May 10.
