Carrville / Bathurst Richmond Hill construction: YRT detour, starting May 11



Starting Monday, May 11, City of Richmond Hill contractors are repairing the water mains

  • at the intersection of Carrville Road with Bathurst Street.

The City is temporarily prohibiting left turns in all directions at the intersection and right turns onto Bathurst from westbound Carrville. The City has posted detour signs and traffic-control personnel are on site to direct traffic.

York Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while crews repair the mains:

  • 16 16th Avenue.

Water-main construction at Carrville / Bathurst and the resulting YRT detour continue until May 13.

YRT buses along the 86 Rutherford and 88 Bathurst routes — which proceed directly through the intersection and make no turns — operate along their regular routes.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route.

From Monday, May 11 until Wednesday, May 13, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Carrville and Ayr Roads, then detour:

northward along Ayr;
west- and northward along Castle Rock Drive; and then
westward along Shaw Boulevard to Bathurst Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Bathurst.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Carrville Road at Okanagan Drive and Bathurst Street and
  • on Bathurst Street at Shaw Boulevard.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Bathurst Street north of Shaw Boulevard.
