Simcoe North Oshawa construction affects DRT, GO buses, starting May 25

Update — Saturday, September 26, 5:44 p.m.: Sunday, September 27 is the last day that DRT operates buses along the 304 Anderson and 950 Reach - Simcoe routes. Starting Monday, September 28, it replaces the routes with service along the new 905 Thickson - Reach route.

Monday, May 25, Region of Durham contractors start a project to widen and rebuild

  • Simcoe Street North (Regional Road 2) between Winchester and Conlin Roads.

The project includes

  • removing asphalt;
  • grading;
  • installing granular base;
  • installing curbs and gutters;
  • paving;
  • replacing storm sewers;
  • replacing traffic-control signals;
  • installing a water main and a sanitary force main; and
  • installing sidewalks and multi-use paths.

(Updated — Saturday, September 26, 5:44 p.m.) Durham Region Transit passengers aboard buses along these routes can expect detours and delays during the project:

  • 304 Anderson (until Sunday, September 27);
  • 905 Thickson - Reach (starting Monday, September 28); and
  • 950 Reach - Simcoe North (until Sunday, September 27).

GO Transit passengers aboard buses along this route can also expect delays:

  • 52 Oshawa / Highway 407.

Construction on Simcoe Street North and the resulting DRT and GO service changes continue until July 31, 2021.
