Metrolinx crews installing "anti-trespass mats" at GO level crossings in Scarborough

Starting Monday, July 13, Metrolinx crews are installing “anti-trespass mats” at several Scarborough level crossings on GO Transit’s Lakeshore East and Stouffville rail corridors. The mats impede pedestrians entering the train right-of-way. The panels surround the tracks and feature a round, cone-shaped pattern on top.

You may notice maintenance crews and machinery in the corridor near each crossing for about a week. Crews mostly work overnight while rail traffic is lightest. You may also hear noise from the machinery and notice some ambient light from each worksite. The crews use back-up beepers, while safely warn workers about trucks and equipment reversing, only during essential work.
