Using tunneling machinery and open-trench construction, the City is:

  • building a new transmission main under Fishleigh Drive, Glen Everest Road, Kingston Road, Claremore Avenue, Natal Park, Scarborough GO Station parking lot and St. Clair Avenue East.
  • replacing the water main and the City-owned portion of substandard water services on Claremore Avenue between Aylesworth Avenue and McIntosh Street.

To date (.pdf), the contractor has:

  • built the shaft at the Scarborough Go station parking lot;
  • installed the transmission water main and built the access road through Natal Park between Scarborough GO Station and Aylesworth Avenue;
  • installed the transmission water main, replaced the local distribution water main and upgraded substandard water service connections on Claremore Avenue between Aylesworth Avenue and Park Street and between Mewburn Avenue and Craiglee Drive; and
  • installed the transmission water main on Claremore Avenue between McIntosh Street and Kingston Road.

Currently, the contractor is:

  • installing the transmission water-main on Kingston Rd between #2121 Kingston and Claremore Avenue, in the Scarborough GO Station parking lot and across St. Clair Avenue East by tunneling between the tunnel shaft at northeast corner of the parking lot to the tunnel shaft at the northwest corner of Midland Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East; and
  • building a tunnel shaft at the southeast corner of Kingston Road and Glen Everest Road, near #2121 Kingston Road and at the northwest corner of Midland Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East.

Specifically on Claremore Avenue, from April until December 2020, the contractor is:

  • installing a temporary water supply system (by-pass) and re-attaching individual buildings to the water supply;
  • digging a trench and installing the transmission and local water main;
  • completing water-main testing and commissioning;
  • replacing the City-owned portion of substandard water service connections;
  • removing the temporary water by-pass pipes and restoring areas that the construction affected; and
  • resurfacing the entire roadway on Claremore Avenue.
