Port Credit GO Station: Construction continues, starting September 8

Starting Tuesday, September 8, GO Transit is closing the east ramp near the station building at Port Credit GO Station. You can access the station building through the front entrance, which is fully accessible. During this project, crews are widening the ramp to provide more space when you use it.

Also starting September 8, GO’s contractor is completing patchwork and repairing the curbs on the train platform Monday-to-Friday evenings and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

GO expects construction on these two projects to continue until “later this fall” or until November 30.

Since Tuesday, August 14, Metrolinx has been enhancing safety features at the station, as part of the GO Expansion project.

During the project, they’re

  • installing tactile yellow tiles at the edge of the train platforms;
  • upgrading elevators that connect the middle platform to the south platform;
  • adding an accessible ramp to the west end of the south platform; and
  • upgrading the accessible ramp to the east end of the south platform (now underway).

Crews start the project by installing the yellow safety tiles. The new tactile tiles not only enhance accessibility, but also indicate to passengers how far back from the edge they need to stand.

Then, crews will upgrade the elevators that connect the island and south platform.

During this project, you may have to change where you board or exit from trains at Port Credit. GO expects to complete the project “in late 2021” or by December 31, 2021.

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Lakeshore West line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
