Eglinton Crosstown LRT - Oakwood: Crane activity, road closure, TTC detours, October 16

Metrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.


From 3 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday, October 16, the City of Toronto is closing

  • Eglinton Avenue West between Times Road and Oakwood Avenue,

while contractors crews relocate a tower crane from the secondary-entrance site to the main-entrance site of the future Oakwood Station.

The work zone blocks all through traffic along this part of Eglinton West. Expect significant impact on TTC services, pedestrian access and traffic flow on nearby streets.

For transit passengers:

  • The TTC is detouring buses along these routes during the closure:
  • 32 Eglinton West; and
  • 332 Eglinton West overnight.

For pedestrians:

  • From 3 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday, October 16, the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton West west of Oakwood at the secondary-entrance site is **closed. Use the north sidewalk. Cross Eglinton on the west side of Oakwood or Times or on the east side of Glenholme Avenue.
  • The sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton across from Oakwood Avenue at the main-entrance site remains closed. Use the south sidewalk. Cross Eglinton at a temporary crosswalk east of Oakwood or the regular crosswalk on the west side of Oakwood.
  • The north - south crosswalk on the east side of Oakwood remains closed. A temporary north - south crosswalk is available on Eglinton east of Oakwood.

For motorists:

  • From 3 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday, October 16, the work zone blocks through traffic on Eglinton between Times Road and Oakwood Avenue. Local access for property owners and tenants remains available.
  • “Paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officers and traffic-control personnel will direct traffic around the work zone.
  • Times Road remains closed north of Eglinton.
  • Northbound traffic on Oakwood must turn right onto eastbound Eglinton.
  • Westbound traffic on Eglinton must turn left onto southbound Oakwood.
  • The City of Toronto has revised traffic regulations to allow two-way traffic on Times south of Livingston Avenue.

For nearby residents and business people:

  • Expect to hear overnight noise from crane movements, loading and truck activity.

32A / 32C / 32D Eglinton West
332 Eglinton West overnight

From 3 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday, October 16, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Eglinton Avenue West and Gilbert Avenue, then detour:

southward along Gilbert;
eastward along Keith Avenue;
southward along Caledonia Road;
eastward along Rogers Road; and then
northward along Oakwood Avenue to Eglinton West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Eglinton.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Eglinton Avenue West at Caledonia Road, across from Little Boulevard, at Nairn Avenue, Ennerdale and Dynevor Roads, Northcliffe Boulevard and Glenholme and Oakwood Avenues.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Caledonia Road at Kitchener Avenue, beyond Summit Avenue and at Corby Avenue and Rogers Road,
  • on Rogers Road at Prospect Cemetery, Nairn and Boon Avenues, Dufferin Street, Northcliffe Boulevard and Glenholme and Oakwood Avenues and
  • on Oakwood Avenue at Jesmond Avenue, Vaughan Road, Clovelly Avenue and Eglinton Avenue West.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Eglinton Avenue West across from Oakwood and Glenholme Avenues, at Locksley Avenue, beyond Shortt Street, across from Ennerdale Road and at Ronald and Montcalm Avenues and Caledonia Road.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Oakwood Avenue beyond Eglinton Avenue West, at Clovelly Avenue, beyond Vaughan Road and at Jesmond Avenue and Rogers Road,
  • on Rogers Road at Blandford and Glenholme Avenues, Northcliffe Boulevard, Dufferin Street and Day and Boon Avenues, beyond Nairn Avenue, at Prospect Cemetery and at Caledonia Road and
  • on Caledonia Road at Corby, Summit, Kitchener and Keith Avenues.
