Metrolinx continues to update the Barrie rail corridor as part of the GO Expansion project. Late evenings from Monday, December 14 until Friday, December 18, GO Transit, GO is cancelling a late-evening train trip along the line. A bus replaces the train, operating as far north as Aurora GO Station. GO is cancelling the train that usually leaves Union Station at 10:53 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Instead, a bus leaves Union Station Bus Terminal at 10:37 a.m., drops off passengers at Rutherford, Maple and King City GO stations and ends its trip in Aurora. You can board a regular GO bus along the 68 Barrie / Newmarket / Aurora route to continue your journey further northward. Passengers travelling to Downsview Park GO Station can board, instead, TTC subway trains along Line 1 Yonge - University. If you’re using PRESTO, tap on the device when boarding and exiting the GO bus. Don’t tap on the machines at the station.
Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Barrie line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
