Queen Street West construction: TTC detour, overnight, December 18 to 19



The TTC has announced that it’s detouring streetcars along these routes overnight, tonight, from 7 p.m. Friday, December 18 until 4 a.m. Saturday, December 19:

  • 301 Queen overnight; and
  • 501 Queen.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West and Shaw Street.

(The TTC has not announced the reason for the detour, other than “construction”. Note that the City of Toronto has closed eastbound lanes between Abell Street and Dovercourt Road daily from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for utility construction since December 14.)

301 Queen overnight

From 7 p.m. Friday, December 18 until 4 a.m. Saturday, December 19, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to The Queensway and Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West, then detour:

eastward along King West; and then
northward along Shaw Street to Queen Street West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen West.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at Triller, Beaty, Jameson and Dunn Avenues, across from Brock Avenue and at Dufferin, Sudbury and Abell Streets, Dovercourt Road, Lower Ossington Avenue and Shaw Street.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street West across from Wilson Park Road, at Dowling, Jameson, Dunn and Spencer Avenues and Dufferin Street, across from Joe Shuster Way and at Atlantic Avenue and Douro and Shaw Streets and
  • on Shaw Street at Adelaide and Queen Streets West.

Shuttle buses replace the cars on Queen West between Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West and Shaw Street. Eastbound streetcar passengers may transfer to eastbound buses on The Queensway at King Street West.

Westbound cars operate along their regular route.

301 / 501 Queen shuttle buses.

From 7 p.m. Friday, December 18 until 4 a.m. Saturday, December 19, shuttle buses replace eastbound streetcars along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes between Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West and Shaw Street.

Eastbound buses start their trips in Sunnyside Loop, then proceed:

southward along Sunnyside Avenue;
eastward along The Queensway and Queen Street West;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Wolseley Loop,
ending their trips.

Eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Sunnyside Loop,
  • on The Queensway at King Street West,
  • on Queen Street West at Triller, Beaty, Jameson and Dunn Avenues, across from Brock Avenue and at Dufferin, Sudbury and Abell Streets, Dovercourt Road, Ossington Avenue, Shaw Street, Strachan Avenue and Niagara, Tecumseth and Bathurst Streets and
  • in Wolseley Loop.

Eastbound bus passengers may transfer to eastbound streetcars at stops on Queen Street West between Shaw and Bathurst Streets.

Westbound buses start their trips in Wolseley Loop, then proceed:

southward along Bathurst;
westward along Queen Street West and The Queensway; and then
northward into Sunnyside Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Wolseley Loop,
  • on Bathurst Street at Queen Street West,
  • on Queen Street West at Palmerston Avenue, Claremont Street, across from Strachan Avenue, at Shaw Street, Ossington Avenue, Dovercourt Road and Beaconsfield and Gladstone Avenues, beyond Dufferin Street and at Brock, O’Hara, Lansdowne, Sorauren, Triller and Roncesvalles Avenues and
  • in Sunnyside Loop.
