HSR revises services, December 27

Starting Sunday, December 27, the Hamilton Street Railway is making very minor changes to its services, it says, “to ensure there is a reliable and sustainable plan for service to continue.”

HSR is maintaining Monday-to-Friday service at a summer level along most routes, with the equivalent of a 100-percent seated capacity. This means a combination of seated / standing 30 passengers on a 12-metre (40-foot) bus and 50 passengers on an 18-metre (60-foot) articulated bus.

With a mask by-law in place, City of Hamilton Public Health is not recommending that the HSR move to a reduced capacity for now. According to the HSR (and most other public agencies), “Wearing a mask on public transit provides the best protection where physical distancing is hard to maintain.”

The Hamilton transit agency is operating buses along these routes with regular Monday-to-Friday schedules:

  • 1 King;
  • 2 Barton;
  • 4 Bayfront;
  • 5 Delaware;
  • 11 Parkdale;
