Hurontario LRT: Utility relocation and road widening between Pinetree and Lakeshore East, starting in January

Metrolinx and its contractors continue construction of the Hurontario light rail transit line in Mississauga and Brampton.


“In January” (perhaps as early as Monday, January 4), to accommodate upcoming LRT construction, the contractors must relocate utilities and widen the roadway

  • on Hurontario Street between Pinetree Way and Lakeshore Road East.

They need to install a new water main, and storm and sanitary systems and relocate hydro and telecommunication infrastructure. This infrastructure is on the main artery serving properties on Hurontario Street. Crews must reroute the infrastructure to ensure ensure reliable service to customers.

Contractors will also widen the roadway between Pinetree and Park Street East to facilitate future lane configurations and the planned multi-use trail. Crews will also install temporary traffic signals at intersections early in the new year. Once they have installed the temporary signals, they’ll remove the current signals and the medians. medians.

The work zone may restrict traffic lanes. Passengers aboard MiWay buses along these routes can expect delays:

  • 2 Hurontario;
  • 8 Cawthra; and
  • 335 Glenforest South high-school special.

Crews generally work from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Mondays to Fridays. However, they may also occasionally work overnight or weekends to keep the project on schedule. Contractors continue relocating utilities and widening the roadway between Pinetree and Lakeshore for “approximately one year”, meaning as late as until January 31, 2022.
