TTC rebuilding Dupont / Kendal underground chamber, starting January 11

Starting Monday, January 11, the TTC is rebuilding an underground utility chamber

  • Dupont Street, north side, near Kendal Avenue.

The chamber is part of a network in Toronto that provides access to electrical and communication cabling for the TTC and other utility companies.

Crews are:

  • digging up the roadway to expose the utility chamber;
  • rebuilding the concrete chamber; and
  • restoring the roadway.

Starting as early as 7 a.m., crews set up a safe work zone and temporary traffic controls.

To keep traffic flowing along Dupont Street through the work zone, the City of Toronto is temporarily restricting on-street parking in the area to allow for one lane of traffic in each direction.

Crews maintain access to all sidewalks, private driveways and store entrances.

Equipment, materials, the work zone and traffic controls remain on-site until the crews have completed the project.

Crews mostly work Mondays to Fridays 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. To keep the project on schedule and to reduce the timeline for disrupting the neighbourhood, occasionally, the crews may work Saturdays 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The TTC is rebuilding the underground chamber at Dupont / Kendal “for 8 to 10 weeks”, meaning as late as until March 11.
