Malton GO Station: Temporary changes to passenger access, starting February 1

Metrolinx continues a project to enhance communication and safety features and create more connections at Malton GO Station, as part of the GO Expansion Program.

Starting Monday, February 1, GO Transit is temporarily changing how you access the island platform at Malton GO Station.

It’s closing the west side, while contractors build a temporary accessible mini-platform. The project affects how you board or exit from trains at the station.

Travelling from Malton GO Station:

  • Look for signs to show you where to wait and remember to spread out along the east side of the platform.
  • The east tunnel remains closed. Use the west tunnel to get to and from the train platforms.

Travelling to Malton GO Station:

  • All coach doors open when you arrive at Malton.

When crews finish the mini-platform, they’ll start upgrading the east platform. Construction of the mini-platform at Malton GO Station continues “for about one week”, meaning as late as until February 7.

Since January 7, GO has temporarily changed how you access the station during the next phase of construction. Contractors continue to install utilities underground for the new electrical building at the station.

To board GO, Brampton Transit or MiWay buses, use a temporary bus platform, just west of the passenger pick-up and drop-off area (or “Kiss and Ride”) near the accessible parking spaces.

GO has closed about 90 parking spaces, including three accessible spaces. GO says, “There will still be plenty of parking available for you at the station.”

The transit agency also continues to close part of the passenger drop off and pick-up area (or “Kiss and Ride”). Directional signs inform you where to enter and exit the Kiss and Ride. Part of the pedestrian path from the bus loop to the station building also remains closed. To get to the station building, use the pedestrian path from the parking lot and the Kiss and Ride.

This phase of construction at Malton GO Station continues “for two months” meaning as late as until March 6.

Since Monday, November 30, GO has closed 38 parking spaces in the lot west of the station building.

GO is temporarily closing these spaces so that contractors can install utilities in the area and create a new laneway to access the station.

GO is closing the parking spaces, “until spring 2021”, meaning as late as until June 30, 2021.

Metrolinx is preparing the station for GO Expansion by:

  • adding tactile yellow safety tiles at the edge of the train platforms to remind you how far back to stand;
  • installing new digital signs on the train platforms;
  • widening the island platform to allow trains to stop on the north side; and
  • changing the accessible platform to function on both sides.

Metrolinx continues upgrading the station “until spring 2022” or until June 30, 2022.

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Kitchener line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
