MiWay revises routes and services, February 22



Starting Monday, February 22, MiWay completes another step in fulfilling the recommendations of its MiWay5 service plan, by extending the path for buses along the 53 Kennedy route to Cooksville GO Station.

(Recent Metrolinx construction to expand the bus loop at the station has allowed MiWay to extend route 53 service to Cooksville.)

MiWay is also no longer diverting buses along route 53 to and from the Paramount Centre during all times of the week except Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

The Mississauga transit agency is also revising the path for buses along the 44 Mississauga Road route due to long-term construction.

It’s also making other minor changes to its services starting February 22. It resumed extra services to and from high schools, starting Tuesday, February 16.

It’s revising service along these MiExpress routes: 101 Dundas; 103 Hurontario; 108 Meadowvale Business; 109 Meadowvale.

And, it’s revising service along these high-school special routes: 302 Philip Pocock - Bloor West; 304 Father Goetz - Mississauga Valley; 306 Streetsville - Terry Fox; 307 Philip Pocock - Bloor East; 313 Streetsville - Meadowvale; 314 Rick Hansen - Creditview; 315 Rick Hansen - City Centre; 321 Stephen Lewis - St. Joan of Arc; 335 Glenforest South.

Increasing service along routes


8 Cawthra

Starting Monday, February 16, MiWay resumed extra northbound buses along the route for passengers travelling to or from secondary schools.

42 Derry

Starting Monday, February 22, MiWay operates a bus on a new eastbound trip along the route “to alleviate overcrowding”. The bus leaves Financial Drive south of Syntex Court (beside Royal Bank of Canada) at 10:22 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It ends its trip in Westwood Square terminal at 10:56 p.m.

Starting Monday, February 16, MiWay resumed extra northbound buses along the routes for passengers travelling to or from secondary schools.

MiWay is extending the path so that buses along the route operate to and from Cooksville GO Station.

Starting Monday, February 22, southbound buses serve passengers at new stops (for this route)

  • on Hurontario Street beyond Central Parkway West, at Fairview Road West and the walkway to Hanson Road and across from John Street and
  • in Cooksville GO Station bus terminal at platform 5.

Northbound buses serve passengers at new stops (for this route)

  • in Cooksville GO Station at platform 5 and
  • on Hurontario Street at John Street, across from the walkway to Hanson Road and at Fairview Road East and Central Parkway East.

Also starting Monday, February 22, MiWay further revises the path so that buses operate along Kennedy Road between Traders Boulevard East / Coopers Avenue and Matheson Boulevard East during all times of the week, instead of only Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Southbound buses serve passengers during all times at stops

  • on Kennedy Road at Traders Boulevard East and Watline Avenue, south of Watline Avenue and at Matheson Boulevard East.

Northbound buses serve passengers during all times at stops

  • on Kennedy Road north of Matheson Boulevard East, across from Watline Avenue and at Coopers Avenue.

44 Mississauga Road

MiWay is detouring buses from their usual path due to upcoming long-term construction on Mississauga Road south of Eglinton Avenue West.

(MiWay has not announced which specific construction project requires the detour.)

  • on Eglinton Avenue West at The Chase and Summersky Court and across from Credit Valley Hospital,
  • on Erin Mills Parkway beyond Eglinton Avenue West and at Credit Valley Road and Folkway Drive and
  • on Burnhamthorpe Road West at Sawmill Valley Drive.

Northbound buses serve passengers at new stops (for this route)

  • on Burnhamthorpe Road West beyond Mississauga Road and at Sawmill Valley Drive.
  • on Erin Mills Parkway at Folkway Drive and beyond Folkway Drive and
  • on Eglinton Avenue West beyond Erin Mills Parkway and at Credit Valley Road and The Chase.

29 Park Royal - Homelands

Starting Monday, February 16, MiWay resumed extra northbound buses along the route for passengers travelling to or from secondary schools.

Decreasing service along routes


17 Hurontario

Friday, February 19 was the last day that MiWay operated the southbound bus that usually left the Hurontario / Highway 407 Park and Ride carpool lot at 8:26 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.

53 Kennedy

MiWay is extending the path so that buses along the route operate to and from Cooksville GO Station.

Starting Monday, February 22, southbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at their usual stops

  • on Mississauga Valley Boulevard beyond Central Parkway East and at Fairview Road East,
  • on Fairview Road East at Hurontario Street and
  • on Hurontario Street at Central Parkway East.

MiWay buses along other routes continue to serve passengers at some of these stops.

  • Mississauga Valley: 3 Bloor.
  • Hurontario: 2 Hurontario; 103 Hurontario express.

MiWay no longer provides transit service to the stop on Fairview Road East.

Also starting Monday, February 22, MiWay further revises the path so that buses operate along Kennedy Road between Traders Boulevard East / Coopers Avenue and Matheson Boulevard East during all times of the week, instead of only Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

53 Kennedy

MiWay is extending the path so that buses along the route operate to and from Cooksville GO Station.

Starting Monday, February 22, southbound buses operate along their usual route to Mississauga Valley Boulevard at Central Parkway East [south], then detour:

westward along Central East;
southward along Hurontario Street; and then
eastward into Cooksville GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips at platform 5.

Southbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at their usual stops

  • on Mississauga Valley Boulevard beyond Central Parkway East and at Fairview Road East,
  • on Fairview Road East at Hurontario Street and
  • on Hurontario Street at Central Parkway East.

MiWay buses along other routes continue to serve passengers at some of these stops.

  • Mississauga Valley: 3 Bloor.
  • Hurontario: 2 Hurontario; 103 Hurontario express.

MiWay no longer provides transit service to the stop on Fairview Road East.

Instead, southbound buses serve passengers at new stops (for this route)
