Region of Durham contractors are getting ready for a major construction project
- at the intersection of Bloor Street East with Wilson Road South
in the City of Oshawa.
Early construction work near the intersection prevents buses from turning from Wilson South north of Bloor onto Bloor East east of Wilson.
Starting 7 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, Durham Region Transit is detouring buses along this route during this preliminary phase of the construction:
- 407 Ritson.
This phase of construction at Bloor East / Wilson South and the resulting DRT detour continues until February 28 (11:59 p.m.).
Starting 7 a.m. Monday, March 1, the Region of Durham is closing
- the intersection of Bloor Street West [Regional Road 16] with Wilson Road South [Regional Road 35]
to all traffic, as contractors resume a project to install a new a new feeder main and replace local water-main and sanitary-sewer systems under Bloor East between Wilson and Ritson Roads East. The closure likely requires more extensive detours for DRT buses, but the transit agency has not yet announced diversions.
During earlier phases of the water-main and sewer projects, DRT has also detoured buses off Bloor Streets East and West:

From 7 a.m. Tuesday, February 23 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, February 28, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Wilson Road South and Bloor Street East, then detour:
southward along Wilson South;
eastward along Veterans Road; and then
northward along Holland Street to Bloor East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Bloor.Southbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Bloor Street East beyond Wilson Road South.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Wilson Road South beyond Bloor Street East.
Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.
