Oversize truck-load movement through Hamilton affects HSR services, February 26



Update — Thursday, March 5, 7:10 p.m.: The HSR has announced that an oversized truck load also moves through Hamilton along the same route with the same timeline tomorrow, Friday, March 6. The transit agency has not explained whether this is a second event, or if the organizers of the move cancelled the original event.


This Friday, February 26 evening, Hydro One contractors are moving an oversize truck load through Hamilton from a transformer station at 135 Wilson Street in downtown Hamilton to another station at 455 Nebo Road in the south Mountain.

Hamilton Street Railway passengers can expect delays along these routes after 8 p.m. that evening:

  • 2 Barton;
  • 3 Cannon;
  • 4 Bayfront;
  • 5 Delaware;
  • 11 Parkdale;
  • 22 Upper Ottawa;
  • 41 Mohawk;
  • 44 Rymal;
  • 55 Stoney Creek Central; and
  • 58 Stoney Creek local.

The oversize truck leaves 135 Wilson Street at about 8 p.m., then proceeds:

eastward along Wilson;
northward along Victoria Avenue North;
eastward along Barton Street East;
northward along Gage Avenue North;
eastward along Burlington Street East;
southward along Ottawa Street North;
eastward along Barton East;
southward along Centennial Parkways North and South and Upper Centennial Parkway South;
westward along Rymal Road East; and then
southward along Nebo Road to #455 Nebo.


2 Barton

Expect delays from about 8:10 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck moves along Barton Street East between Victoria and Gage Avenues North.

Also expect delays from about 8:40 until 9:30 p.m. as the truck moves along Barton East between Ottawa Street North and Centennial Parkway North.

4 Bayfront

Expect delays from about 8:35 until 8:45 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck moves along Burlington Street East between Gage Avenue North and Ottawa Street North.

Also expect delays from about 9:10 until 9:20 p.m. as the truck moves along Barton Street East between Woodward Avenue North and Nash Road North.

3 Cannon

Expect delays from about 8 until 8:15 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck moves along Wilson Street between #145 Wilson and Victoria Avenue North.

Also expect delays from about 8 until 8:15 p.m., as the truck crosses Cannon Street East at Victoria North.

5 Delaware

Expect delays from about 9:50 until 10 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck crosses King Street East Hamilton / King Street West Stoney Creek at Centennial Parkway South.

41 Mohawk

Expect delays from about 8:35 until 8:45 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck moves along Ottawa Street North between Beach Road and Barton Street East.

Also expect delays from about 8:45 until 8:55 p.m., as the truck crosses Kenilworth Avenue North at Barton East.

11 Parkdale

Expect delays from about 9 until 9:15 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck crosses Parkdale Avenue North at Barton Street East.

44 Rymal

Expect delays from about 9:30 until 11 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck moves along Centennial Parkways North and South and Upper Centennial Parkway between Barton Street East and Rymal Road East and along Rymal Road East between Upper Centennial Parkway North and Nebo Road.

55 Stoney Creek Central

Expect delays from about 9 until 9:15 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck crosses Queenston Road / City Highway 8 at Centennial Parkway.

58 Stoney Creek local

Expect delays from about 9:40 until 10 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck moves along Centennial Parkway South between Queenston Road / City Highway 8 and King Street East Hamilton / King Street West Stoney Creek.

22 Upper Ottawa

Expect delays from about 10:50 until 11 p.m. Friday, February 26, as the truck moves along Nebo Road between Rymal Road East and Kilbride Road.
