Starting 7 a.m. Monday, March 1, the Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa are closing
- the intersection of Bloor Street East [Regional Road 16] with Wilson Road South [Regional Road 35]
to all traffic, as contractors resume a regional project to install a new feeder main and replace local water-main and sanitary-sewer systems under Bloor East between Wilson and Ritson Roads East.
Durham Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the intersection is closed:
- 407 Ritson.
Construction at Bloor East / Wilson North and the resulting DRT detour continue until April 2.
During earlier phases of the water-main and sewer projects, DRT has also detoured buses off Bloor Streets East and West:
- between Wilson and Ritson Roads, starting September 21, 2020; and
- west of Simcoe Street, starting April 14, 2017.
Last week, from Tuesday, February 23 until Sunday, February 28, crews started preparing for the intersection by blocking curb lanes on Bloor Street East and also requiring DRT to divert the buses along another detour path.
407A / 407B / 407C Ritson
From 7 a.m. Monday, March 1 until 5 p.m. Friday, April 2, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Dean Avenue and Wilson Road South, then detour:
northward along Wilson South;
eastward along Shakespeare Avenue;
southward along Farewell Street;
eastward along Tennyson Avenue;
southward along Harmony Road South; and then
westward along Bloor Street East to Farewell,
resuming their regular route southward along Farewell.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Bloor Street East beyond Wilson Road South and at Farewell Street.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Tennyson Avenue beyond Farewell Street.
Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Farewell Street and Bloor Street East, then detour:
eastward along Bloor East;
northward along Harmony Road South;
westward along Olive Avenue; and then
southward along Wilson Road South to Dean Avenue,
resuming their regular route eastward along Dean.Northbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Bloor Street East across from Holland Street and at Wilson Road South.
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Olive Avenue beyond Harmony Road South and Poplar Street and at Baldwin Street and Wilson Road South.
