Update — Wednesday, March 31, 2:47 p.m.: Track repairs on Fleet and Bathurst Streets and the resulting TTC detours continue until April 2, due to weather-related delays.
Starting 5 a.m. Saturday, March 27, TTC track crews are repairing the streetcar tracks
- on Fleet Street between Fort York Boulevard and Bathurst Street; and
- on Bathurst Street between Fleet Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West (east-to-south curve).
Crews work in the track area to:
- breaking and removal of concrete to expose rail components;
- replacing old rail components with new rail; and
- place concrete.
The TTC is detouring streetcars along these routes, to accommodate the work:

(Updated — Wednesday, March 31, 2:47 p.m.) Track work on Fleet Street and the resulting TTC detours continue until April 1 April 2.
Saturday, March 27** at about 5 a.m., the track crew starts setting up a work zone in the area and by 7 a.m. starts cutting into the concrete. They start excavating at about 8 a.m. to expose the old rails. The TTC says, “While excavation work will end by 10 p.m. daily, rail work of this nature requires periods of late evening and overnight work to ensure quality installation of new rail and concrete. Some of this work will include clean-up, welding and grinding.”
For safety of the track crew and road users, the City of Toronto is temporarily restricting traffic in the area. “Paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officers will be on-site to direct traffic as necessary.
Lake Shore Boulevard West
- The work zone restricts westbound traffic.
- You can’t turn right from westbound Lake Shore West to northbound Bathurst.
