Lawrence Station: TTC repairing roof of main entrance building, starting March 29

Starting “the week of” Monday, March 29, the TTC is repairing the roof of the main entrance / exit building atLawrence Station. During this project, the station entrance will remain open and the TTC is maintaining bus and subway service at all times.

That week, work crews will create a safe work zone and start installing protective scaffolding around the entrance into / exit out of the building. When they have set up safe work and pedestrian zones, they start

  • removing the old and installing the new roof flashings along the roof wall;
  • removing the old roof material; and
  • applying new roof material.

Crews won’t be using the traditional method of applying liquid asphalt (with an asphalt kettle). Instead, they apply heat to a three-ply membrane. This method produces less odour.

Crews will control dust as much as possible. They’re fencing off an area to store materials and store disposal bins.

Crewa typically work daily from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Occasionally, they may work as late as 8 p.m., if necessary, to keep the project on schedule. Crews may also perform safety-sensitive activities before or after these these hours. The TTC’s roof supplier will be deliver materials from 5 until 7 a.m. multiple times during the course of the project. TTC crews will store some supplies on the roof.

Roof repairs at the main entrance / exit building at Lawrence Station continues “until the end of June”, meaning as late as until June 30.
