Wellington Street North Hamilton railroad-track repairs: HSR detour, starting June 7



Starting 7 a.m. Monday, June 7, the City of Hamilton is closing

  • Wellington Street North between Picton and Ferrie Streets East

to accommodate Canadian National Railway contractors who are maintaining the tracks of an industrial spur line.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 4 Bayfront.

CN work at the Wellington Stret North level crossing and the resulting HSR detour continue until June 11.


4 Bayfront

From 7 a.m. Monday, June 7 until 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Burlington Street East and Victoria Avenue North, then detour:

southward along Victoria North;
westward along Ferrie Street East;
southward along Wellington Street North;
eastward along Birge Street; and then
northward along Victoria to Ferrie East,
resuming their regular route northward along Victoria.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Burlington Street East at Victoria Avenue North,
  • on Wellington Street North beyond Burlington Street East and at Macaulay Street East and
  • on Ferrie Street East beyond Wellington Street North.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Burlington Street East and Wellington Street North, then detour:

eastward along Burlington East;
southward along Victoria Avenue North;
westward along Ferrie Street East;
southward along Wellington North;
eastward along Birge Street; and then
northward along Victoria North to Ferrie East,
resuming their regular route northward along Victoria.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Wellington Street North at Macaulay Street East and
  • on Ferrie Street East beyond Wellington Street North.

Inbound buses operate toward downtown.

Outbound buses operate away from downtown.
