Station Street Ajax construction: DRT detour, June 19



From 7 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, June 19, the Town of Ajax is closing

  • Station Street between Commercial Avenue and Mills Road

to accommodate Region of Durham contractors who are installing a sanitary sewer and a new water main to service a nearby development.

Durham Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 224 Harwood - Salem.

The Town previously closed this section of Station Street for the same project — and DRT detoured the buses — from Saturday, May 29 until Sunday, June 6.


224 Harwood - Salem

From 7 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, June 19, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Harwood Avenue South and Hunt Street, then detour:

westward along Hunt; and then
northward along Dowty Road to Fairall Avenue,
resuming their regular route westward along Fairall.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Harwood Avenue North at Kings Crescent [north] and
  • on Station Street beyond Harwood Avenue North, across from Mills Road and at Dowty Road.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Hunt Street beyond Harwood Avenue South and at Mills and Dowty Roads and
  • on Dowty Road beside #177 Dowty.

Eastbound buses reverse the westbound detour routing.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Station Street beside #87 Station and at Harwood Avenue North and
  • on Harwood Avenue South across from Kings Crescent [north] and at Hunt Street.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Dowty Road beside #160 Dowty and
  • on Hunt Street beyond Monarch Avenue and at Harwood Avenue South.
