Major Mackenzie Drive East Markham construction: YRT detour, June 18



From 9 p.m. Friday, June 18 until 5 a.m. Sunday, June 20, the Region of York is closing

  • Major Mackenzie Drive East (Regional Road 25) between Donald Cousens Parkway and Markham Road

in the City of Markham to accommodate Metrolinx contractors who are repairing the Uxbridge subdivision tracks. (The tracks carry GO Transit trains along the 71 Stouffville line.)

York Region Transit is detouring a single bus along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 25 Major Mackenzie.

The eastbound bus that leaves Addison Street north of Harding Boulevard West at 9 p.m., Friday, June 18, operates along its regular route to Major Mackenzie Drive East and Markham Road, then detours:

southward along Markham;
eastward along Castlemore Avenue; and then
northward along Delray Drive to Donald Cousens Parkway,
resuming their regular route southeastward along Donald Cousens.

The bus skips its regular stops

  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Donald Cousens Parkway and
  • on Donald Cousens Parkway at Delray Avenue.

Instead, the bus drops off or picks up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Delray Drive and Donald Cousens Parkway.
