Since Monday, June 1, 2020, TTC contractors have been conducting geotechnical investigations, including drilling boreholes, as part of a future project to expand Bloor - Yonge Station. The contractors are working in the area between Bay and Church Streets and between Collier and Hayden Streets.

Drilling crews are at each test-pit location for two to three weeks. They work Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Yonge Street and Asquith Avenue. They work Saturdays and Sundays on Bloor Street East. Work zones block traffic lanes and equipment and trucks are present on the roadway, as the crews work at each site. They may also return to previous sites after finishing the initial investigation, if necessary.

The contractor crews maintain access to sidewalks and properties at all times. They may also temporarily paint white lines on the roadway. Expect noise and vibration from drilling, hydro-vacuuming and equipment.

Geophysical investigations near Bloor and Yonge Streets continue until July 31.

The TTC and the City of Toronto intend to expand the capacity of the Bloor - Yonge subway junction — Bloor Station on Line 1 Yonge - University and Yonge Station on Line 2 Bloor - Danforth.
