HSR adds more stops to Mountain Climber program, starting June 25

Starting Friday, June 25, the Hamilton Street Railway adds more stops for its Mountain Climber program for cyclists.

Cyclists travelling aboard buses along Mill Street South / Waterdown Road can now exit or board buses at

  • Aldershot GO Station.

The stops serve passengers aboard buses along this route:

  • 18 Waterdown.

The HSR piloted the program on James Mountain Road starting May 19, 2017. The City and HSR made the program permanent in 2018, when they also expanded the pilot to two more roadways — Beckett Drive and the Kenilworth Access. Starting August 1, 2019, the transit agency expanded the program to include buses for all routes that operate along escarpment access roads.

The program allows cyclists to board an HSR bus to ride up or down the escarpment free of fare. To participate in the Mountain Climber program, wait at one of the marked stops and secure your bike to the front bike rack of the bus and let the operator know you are riding for free as a Mountain Climber. Leave the bus at the first available stop once up or down the escarpment roadway.
