YRT revises routes and services, July 4



Starting Sunday, July 4, York Region Transit is revising its routes and services, it says, “to adjust to changing [passenger] demand.”

Due to fewer riders during the pandemic, YRT continues to suspend service along these routes:

  • Viva green;
  • Viva pink;
  • 10 Woodbridge;
  • 21 Vellore local;
  • 22 King City;
  • 31 Aurora North;
  • 42 Berczy;
  • 45 Mingay;
  • 51 Keswick local;
  • 58 Mount Albert; and
  • 84 Oak Ridges.

YRT is revising service along these routes: 25 Major Mackenzie; 88 Bathurst; 107 / 107B Keele; Viva orange; Viva purple; and Viva yellow.

Increasing service along a route


25 Major Mackenzie

YRT is revising the path for buses along the route to improve service to passengers transferring to other YRT buses at Yonge / Major Mackenzie vivastation. (The new path reverses the direction of the current on-street loop.)

Starting Monday, July 5, westbound buses drop off passengers at a new stop

  • on Hopkins Street beyond Yonge Street.

Eastbound buses pick up passengers at new stops

  • on Hopkins Street beyond Yonge Street and
  • on Addison Street [southbound] at Harding Boulevard West.

Decreasing service along a route


25 Major Mackenzie

YRT is revising the path for buses along the route to improve service to passengers transferring to other YRT buses at Yonge / Major Mackenzie vivastation. (The new path reverses the direction of the current on-street loop.)

Starting Monday, July 5, westbound buses no longer drop off passengers at their usual stops

  • on Addison Street beyond Harding Boulevard West,
  • on Yonge Street [southbound] at Harding Boulevard West and
  • on Harding Boulevard West [eastbound] at Addison Street.

Eastbound buses no longer drop off passengers at their usual stop

  • on Harding Boulevard West [westbound] at Addison Street.

Decreasing the frequency of service along routes


107B Keele

YRT is decreasing the frequency of service along the 107B branch of the route Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours.

Starting Monday, July 5, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the branch:

  • every 11 minutes.
Viva yellow

YRT is decreasing the frequency of service along the route every day.

Starting Sunday, July 4, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 17 minutes Sundays and holidays before about 11 a.m.;
  • every 19 minutes from about 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.; and
  • every 34 minutes after about 9 p.m.

Starting Monday, July 5, the buses serve passengers at stops:

  • every 20 minutes Mondays to Fridays from about 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.;
  • every 17 minutes from about 8 until 10 p.m.; and
  • every 32 minutes after about 10 p.m.

Starting Saturday, July 10, buses serve passengers:

  • every 18 minutes Saturdays before about 9 a.m.;
  • every 20 minutes from about 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.; and
  • every 32 minutes after about 10 p.m.

25 Major Mackenzie

YRT is revising the path for buses along the route to improve service to passengers transferring to other YRT buses at Yonge / Major Mackenzie vivastation. (The new path reverses the direction of the current on-street loop.)

Starting Monday, July 5, westbound buses operate along their usual path to Harding Boulevard West and Addison Street, then proceed:

eastward along Harding West;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
westward along Hopkins Street to just beyond Yonge,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses no longer drop off passengers at their usual stops

  • on Addison Street beyond Harding Boulevard West,
  • on Yonge Street [southbound] at Harding Boulevard West and
  • on Harding Boulevard West [eastbound] at Addison Street.

Instead, westbound buses serve passengers at a new stop

  • on Hopkins Street beyond Yonge Street.

Eastbound buses start their trips westbound on Hopkins Street beyond Yonge Street, then proceed:

westward along Hopkins; and then
southward along Addison Street to Harding Boulevard West,
resuming their regular route westward along Harding West.

Eastbound buses no longer pick up passengers at their usual stop

  • on Harding Boulevard West [westbound] at Addison Street.

Instead, eastbound buses serve passengers at new stops

  • on Hopkins Street beyond Yonge Street and
  • on Addison Street [southbound] at Harding Boulevard West.

107 Keele

Starting Sunday, July 4, YRT adjusts the schedules for buses along the route every day.

YRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the 107B branch of the route.
