Henderson Avenue Thornhill paving: YRT detour, starting July 13



Starting Tuesday, July 13, the City of Markham is closing

  • Henderson Avenue between Elgin Street and Glen Cameron Road

to accommodate contractors who are repaving the roadway.

York Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 2 Milliken.

Construction on Henderson Avenue and the resulting YRT detour continue until July 15.


2 Milliken

From Tuesday, July 13 until Thursday, July 15, westbound buses operate along their regular route to John Street and Bayview Avenue, then detour:

southward along Bayview; and then
westward along Proctor Avenue to Henderson Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Henderson.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on John Street at Baywood Gate,
  • on Henderson Avenue south of John Street, at Elgin Street, south of Cerswell Avenue and at Clark Avenue East and Glen Cameron Road.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Bayview Avenue south of John Street and Thornlea Road and at Hunt Club Court and Proctor Avenue.

Eastbound buses reverse the westbound detour routing.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Henderson Avenue at Clark Avenue East, across from Cerswell Avenue and at John Street and
  • on John Street at Candice Gate.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Bayview Avenue at Doncrest Drive, Laureleaf Road and Harris Way.
