Spadina streetcar tunnel maintenance: Buses north of King, early July 20, 21, 22



From 12:01 until 5 a.m. daily, starting Tuesday, July 20, TTC crews are inspecting the streetcar tunnel into Spadina Station.

To accommodate the work, the TTC is replacing streetcars with shuttle buses north of King Street West along these routes:

  • 310 Spadina overnight; and
  • 510 Spadina.

Nearby residents can expect noise from TTC overhead vehicles when they’re backing up the ramp that leads to the Spadina Station streetcar tunnel.

Spadina streetcar-tunnel inspection and the resulting TTC service changes continue early mornings until July 22.

From 12:01 until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, Wednesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 22, south- and eastbound cars start their trips in Charlotte Loop, on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street, then proceed:

southward along Charlotte; and then
westward along King Street West to Spadina Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Spadina.

Southbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Spadina Station streetcar terminal,
  • on Spadina Avenue south of Sussex Avenue and Harbord Street, at Willcocks Street, south of College Street, at Nassau Street, south of Dundas Street West, across from Sullivan Street and south of Queen Street West.

Instead, southbound cars pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street.

Shuttle buses replace the cars north of King Street West.

East- and northbound cars operate along their regular route to Spadina Avenue and Adelaide Street West, then detour:

eastward along Adelaide West; and then
southward along Charlotte Street to Oxley Street,
ending their trips.

East- and southbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Spadina Avenue at Richmond Street West, north of Queen Street West, Sullivan Street and Dundas Street West, across from Nassau Street, north of College Street, at Willcocks Street, north of Harbord Street and at Sussex Avenue and
  • in Spadina Station streetcar terminal.

Shuttle buses replace the cars north of King Street West. East- and northbound streetcar passengers can transfer to northbound buses on Spadina Avenue north of King Street West.

310 / 510 Spadina shuttle buses

From 12:01 until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, Wednesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 22, buses replace streetcars along the 310 Spadina overnight and 510 Spadina routes north of King Street West. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops beside the curb on Spadina Avenue, instead of the centre-road “island” streetcar stops.

Southbound buses start their trips in Spadina Station bus terminal, then proceed:

southward along Spadina Road, Spadina Avenue, Spadina Crescent and Spadina Avenue;
eastward along Adelaide Street West;
southward along Peter Street; and then
westward along King Street West to Spadina Avenue,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Spadina Station bus terminal and
  • on Spadina Avenue south of Sussex Avenue and Harbord Street, at Willcocks Street, south of College Street, at Nassau Street, south of Dundas Street West, across from Sullivan Street and south of Queen Street West.

Unofficially, expect the TTC to set up temporary stops near the intersections of King Street West with Peter Street / Blue Jays Way and Spadina Avenue, possibly on the west side of Peter north of King West and on the north side of King east of Spadina.

Southbound bus passengers may transfer to south- and eastbound streetcars on King Street West at Peter Street and Spadina Avenue.

Northbound buses start their trips on King Street West at Spadina Avenue, then proceed:

along their regular route northward along Spadina.

Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Spadina Avenue at Richmond Street West, north of Queen Street West, Sullivan Street and Dundas Street West, across from Nassau Street, north of College Street, at Willcocks Street, north of Harbord Street and at Sussex Avenue and
  • in Spadina Station bus terminal.
