Starting 7 a.m. Monday, August 23, the City of Toronto is closing
- Sweeney Drive between Gretna and Penryn Avenues
to accommodate contractors who are upgrading storm and sanitary sewers and inlet control devices as part of the City’s basement flooding=prevention program.
Crews are:
- excavating the road and digging a trench to access and install the new sewers;
- replacing City-owned water service pipes that do not meet City standards from the sewer and water mains to private-property lines; and
- restoring all work areas with asphalt, concrete or grass when they’ve finished working underground.
The TTC is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:
- 91 Woodbine.
Construction on Sweeney Drive and the resulting TTC detour continue until August 25.
91C / 91D Woodbine
From 7 a.m. Monday, August 23 until 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Sweeney Drive and Penryn Avenue, then detour:
southward along Penryn; and then
westward along Woodthorpe Road to Sloane Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Sloane.Southbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Sloane Avenue beyond Sweeney Drive.
Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Sloane Avenue and Anewen Drive, then detour:
northwestward along Anewen; and then
northward along Gretna Avenue to Sweeney Drive,
resuming their regular route westward along Sweeney.Northbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Sweeney Drive across from Sloane Avenue.
